   this is in the olden days when there were only cartoons on Saturday mornings. Before the Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon and the Disney Channel. Before cable. Around the time dinosaurs roamed the earth.

   Everything you see in Shirley and Son is a rerun. Jerry Bittle died in 2003, he was only 53. That’s why this is called Shirley and Son Classics.

   It makes me crazy to see Shirley not getting involved with her child’s activities. She needs to teach them how to play checkers, not just put the board in front of them and leave. This is a Teaching Moment, and Shirley is Absent. Being a mom involves education!

   Come on, Shirley, sit down and read with him. Have him read out loud. That’s the way to tell if a child is having reading problems. Sitting there by himself, how do you know he is understanding anything he reads? Parental involvement is important in a child’s education.

   Jeff isn’t her future husband, she will marry Paul in the future.

   Luann is so inconsiderate. If she really cared about Quill, she would have given him a day or two to sleep and get over his jet lag before dragging him to a party. Even after he’s fallen asleep several times, she never takes the hint. But Quill could have told her, since she’s so dense, that he needs to get some sleep before he parties. This relationship is one-sided, not a good thing in a healthy relationship.

   Looks like Get A Life has gone out and gotten a life. It just doesn’t happen to be here.

    well, not a new one, but another one from the archives. Too bad no one took over the strip after Jerry Bittle died, this is a good cartoon.
