Sooo disappointed in Gunther! He’s not standing up for her at all. He’s just trying to sneakily disobey Al’s orders.

I don’t blame Bets for mocking him about being ‘manly’.

Well, I guessed wrong. Congrats to Brdshtt and the others who guessed he was going into his bedroom. Though, I doubt anyone figured he’d act like such a wuss when he was in there. lol I don’t see him ever confronting Irma or Al, now.

None of this resolves the issue with Tiff, either. Guess she gets to stay there indefinitely.

I used to care. Now I don’t any more. It’s liberating! I predict that this will remain G-rated and Bets will realize she actually needs to find someone else.

He’s not being manly, Bets. He’s shaking in his shoes worrying about being caught. You put him a situation he doesn’t want to be in. What does this say about you? You’re the type who always put yourself ahead of everyone else. And saying Whoo? Do you realize you sound childish? So tickled pink about staying the night with Gunther with the potential of getting caught? I suspect you’re hoping to get caught so you could rub it in her face such as saying “Good Morning, Irma! I had a great night. How was yours?”

This isn’t happening. By now lights and clothes should be off and full attention should be given to the event at hand. It’s slam, bam, thank you ma’am.

Well, I admit defeat, I fell for the well-laid suggestion that Gunther was going to confront Irma and Al about his feelings for Bets, and kudos to those who figured that Bets and Gun(ther) were, instead, going to the bedroom, after Les goaded him using the manhood, although to me taking his gf sneakily into his rent free bedroom does not prove his manhood, even if they do the deed. He’s whispering because he does not want them to see or hear any deed doing, but Bets is in rapture almost, and is being loud, I think deliberately, although as she points out, the main house is 50 feet away (hmmm, I can remember the apartment I lived in while in law school, where sometimes it was hard to rest because two very enthusiastic lovers, who were at least 50 feet away, in an apartment across the street would make quite loud lovemaking noise it seemed all night, so it’s possible) ; dealing with the issue that his mom represents and then taking action might, but for now it leaves the issue of why the parents are favoring Tiffany, while ignoring, or outright being insultingly rude to Bets open, plus, lest we forget, Tiffany should be returning home to the Gulag soon. I get burned all the time here—part of the fun—so I’m going to wait before I do any other predictions on this arc. I hope it’s not dropped Saturday, but we shall see.

Don’t forget, Gunther spent time in Peru with Rosa!

Yes, if you live that close to your parents, you have no curtain over your window, and you’re at least prepubescent, that is odd.

Tiffany should come back now to add even more drama and chaos.

Two things here:

FIRST.

Predictably, just about _EVERYBODY _ is so laser focus on criticizing Gunther over just about everything he does or won’t do here. Most notably over not confronting his noxious mother. But Hey. Gunther could shoot down 10 Chinese Spy Balloons with a home made Rail-Gun powered by a Popel Pocket fusion generator, and he’d still be labeled a “wuss” by some “folks.” But, isn’t it interesting that while Bets is “rah-rating” Gunther over defying his family, at the same time she does EVERYTHING possible to avoid confronting her OWN so-called weird family, up to and including avoiding going home for the holidays or Summer breaks?

But let’s cut to the chase. Gunther is not going to have “defiance sex” here (although he should). What he should have next is a long over-due talk with Bets about “things.” Starting with what’s next in thier relationship moving forward and ending with, “Okay, I’m about to completely cut Myself out My mother’s inheritance, but that’s okay because I love you. NOW, let’s meet YOUR “weird folks.”

SECOND.

I’m sorry, but Bets is kinda pushy, controlling HOT. ;-)

I recall when Gunther had LUANN in his room. Gunther hoisted Lu out his window, for fear that Les might hear a WOMAN in Gunther’s room and think something IMPROPER might be going on. Probably NONE of Gunther’s peers have this antiquated mindset. Sad.

It sort of figures, Greg seems to like story plots where everyone does the exact opposite of what they should be doing. Making everything much worse/harder than it should be. And in some cases, ending with something that makes people reading the story feel better after all the crazy twists and turns. In real life these are the kind of actions that could totally tear a family apart.

Drum Roll: What will Gunther and Bets DO in his room?? Tune in Friday for a moment of truth (or not).

This arc is making me like Bets a lot. She has a genuine enthusiasm and great energy, she really represents being a young adult well. The desire to appear grown up mixed with childish behavior. Gunther is afraid of his mother so much that he covers the window. I hope Bets can reassure him.

I guess that will clear up all the conjecture here about them living in Irma’s old house.

Speaking of houses, it looks like Gunny did not make it over to the main house to put Al and Irma in their place.

I never liked Bets. She still comes across as pushy and controlling. id have kicked her to the curb.

There’s a huge difference in worrying about what your parent thinks when you are living in your own home and when you are living under their roof. In the first instance, it is none of their business — in the second, you’re a guest and have to obey the rules if you want to stay.

Bets is simply acting here. Getting Gunther worked up to where nothing else is gonna happen. Maybe a lecture from Bets.

Okay she kinda has a point. And she’s not wrong: their grown adults.

I dont like Bets. She really doesnt care about Gunther or she wouldnt mock his feelings as silly as they are.

So Bets is going to spend the night in Gunther’s room. I will make a bet that Gunther does NOT sleep in the room with her. He will be in the other bean bag chair.

Seems Gunther’s bravado lasted as long as it took to walk down the hall.

I guess I’m old. Gunther has been in that house how long and he doesn’t have curtains up or even a sheet? Given his talent for sewing you’d think he’d have some nice curtains already.

I bet that Bets isn’t aware of the irony of HER pushing Gunther around, then mocking him for showing some respect for his Mom and her new husband while he lives for FREE in their house.

Yesterday, I assumed Gunther was marching over to confront Irma, with Bets by his side……but no! disappointed……

And…Gunther fumbled his man-test. But he might pass another man-test. So, win-win?

Now Gunther is hanging window coverings? I’d would’ve thought he had done that long ago. And, Betts, we know you’re trying to egg Gunther on to loosen the “apron strings,” but you might want to save the performance for after Gunther performs

He doesn’t deserve her.

I kinda get it. It’s not like he’s trying to keep her a secret, per se. He’s trying to minimize her lecturing. He wants her to mind her OWN business since she keeps treating him like a kid still. Flip side of the coin is even if all she’ll do is not shut up about it (anyone with THAT family member knows what I’m talking about…), Al could potentially kick him out for breaking rules. Either way, this unjust prejudiced treatment towards Bets and preferential treatment towards Tiff shows a family pow-wow is needed to reshuffle some in-law unit rules.

Bets is more enthusiastic about slapping Irma in the face with her overnight stay than she is about being with, and supporting, her boyfriend. She likes to push buttons and make things happen, no matter what the consequences are to other people. Why is the guest house so coveted by her? What does it really represent? She obviously has some authority figure issues, but being confrontational with Gunther’s mom is not going to end well.

Do we have any historical indicators that Bets and Gunther have spent the night together before or is it just assumed?

The BetTifGun triangle is about to gain emphasis. It will not be Irma who overhears.

Yep, tape a big yellow towel over the apparently-up-to-now-uncovered window of your bedroom, and make it with your girlfriend while profiles of historical figures watch. Nothing weird or suspicious about that. Totally normal college-kid behavior. Sheesh.

I hope Bets like Gunther’s footie pajamas.

Irma would want to put a curfew on Gunther & Bets’ wedding night.

Bets told Gunther she is staying the night and he can’t say No to her. Irma says No to any sex in the guest house and Gunther will not defy his mom. So Bets is staying the night but not in bed with Gunther.

Gunther should decide what HE wants to do with his life and learn to stand up for himself without getting angry. I don’t have any hope Gunther will do that in my lifetime, but it is possible to establish boundaries in a calm manner with the people in your life.

Tiffany , upon her return, will be shocked ….shocked I say ! :-/

Well, “folks”, the way I see it: 1. Gunther and Bets haven’t been intimate yet. 2. By acting up, Bets is pushing the envelope hoping to force Gunther to man up. 3. She is “manipulative” as several have said, but some people NEED to be pushed 4. Will Al and Irma hear Bets and rush over to “save” Gunther? 5. What about Tiffany? Will Les tell her Bets is spending the night? 6. Will “hilarity” or disaster ensue? 7. Tune in tomorrow, same batty channel!

What Gunther deserves: He stays up all night fretting. Early morning Gunther goes to the bathroom – and Les is not in the beanbag chair – Les is in the bedroom with Tiffany! Gunther furiously runs back to his room to rant to Bets about it. Bets replies “Whateverrr…” and leaves for school.

Gunth’s mom may hear it but she know’s Bet’s not talking about her son.

You’ve GOT to be kidding! So instead of speaking directly to Irma and Al, he’s hiding out in his room with Bets. No wonder Les had a weird look yesterday. Gunther is not ready for a serious relationship if he can’t assert his feelings for Bets, either to himself or to his mother.

Tiffany, where is your Pagoda of Peace? I can’t see that Bets is truly happy with this, and I doubt either will Tiffany. She or Les may have some words or wisdom, or something. =:-o

Gunther is such a disappointment here. His “big bold move” to have Bets stay has turned into a wimpy “momma’s boy” move that really means nothing. Bets might as well just leave now. Gunther is only proving her theory that she is last on his list.

She may recognize the sounds from Kip and Steph experience and take any of a range of actions – or ignore them!

This is just not the right way to handle the issues with Irma. Pure and simple. I do not care one way or the other if Gunther and Bets copulate or not. All this will do is muddy and confuse the situation between Gunther and Bets and Irma‘a attitude. It ifeels rather sad.

Momma is scared of “A daughter’s a daughter for all of her life, a son is a son UNTIL he gets him a wife.” Cut the strings, Gunther, before Momma cuts something else!!

Bets is teasing Gunny for all she’s worth. And, while it may not be kind of her, I must say she’s giving me a chuckle by the unease she’s causing him….

I fail to understand Bets enthusiasm at spending the night in the gulag, but I guess it’s a step above the privacy hut? An interesting twist would be if Tiff came home, realized Bets spent the night, and unintentionally or intentionally let it slip to Irma and Al.

I don’t think Bets is mocking Gunther by saying he’s so manly. I think she’s saying it loud enough for Irma to hear so she’ll get on edge.
