Knowing what you know now about Cooper, go back and reread all of his earlier appearances in the comic. Yeah I know, creepy serial killer vibe…

So… who loved there? I guess this was a joint operation in the complex. Details! We need them!

Interesting. They torched Unit 1 where the butcher shop was, not Cooper’s pad. I’d guess that this means the pig killing stage is finished and they (you know, “they” as in “they” are out to get me) will be springing some new tricks.

C’mon, Cooper was a good guy, always clean. We knew that. Now to try to find out who was connected with Unit 1.

Boss Hog has a vested interest.

At breakfast the chicken was involved, but it’s the pig that’s committed.

Welp… Now they can go back to interrogating Philo Foxworthy on the crime he didn’t commit… and the one he was about to commit.

1, 2, c’mon, it’s an easy mistake to make. Don’t worry about little details like this. Just say what Grout is telling you to say and this “investigation” will go a lot easier.

Cooper was only feeding Foxworthy information on the “alleged” food shortage. Maybe he had just discovered the shop next door and was killed before he could do anything about it. Now to find who lived in unit one. By the way, the real killers should have realized that smoked Cooper (fish) is a tasty delicacy and a natural source of omega 3.

Both units were in the same building. It appears that Cooper’s unit was NOT the slaughterhouse.

That Cooper lived in Unit 2 is agreed… But the location of Unit 2 is disagreed. The police were informed Unit 2 was the slaughterhouse and assumed Cooper was complicit, but the fire department has different maps indicating Cooper is innocent. Someone gave the police the wrong information and changed the plans to hide the slaughterhouse, apparently. The slaughterhouse appears to have been planned for years, from the beginning of Endtown’s occupation, when food shortages would be speculation, not considered fact. If someone planned for starvation that never actually came, would they be so invested in their preparations that they falsify a shortage so they could exploit it?

Maybe someone intended to profiteer from a shortage and the shortage didn’t cooperate, so they resorted to trying to convince the people that it did anyway to keep the intended racket going.

That’s a good thought, and it’s the one so far that really starts to fit the evidence. The hidden, ventilated slaughterhouse may be one of many secret locations built at the time of the town’s construction and held as a contingency against future starvation. Built with the expectation that systematic slaughtering would have to be done without the population’s knowledge. If so, then that’s… creepy.
