Why original has more menace. Original has shake lines on threatened figure. Thretened figure ’s arm and hand have red outline from off-register printing. Flat colors and Ben Day have more here-and-now sense of immediacy re old daily newspapers. New version while excellently done has romanticized the feeling of the interaction with background colorization and dramatic lighting of the faces rather than the flat flashbulb faces of the original. Just my guess.
Or as the Hulk once said to Captain America when they were having a disagreement, “Hello, Captain. I’m feeling sluggish today. Don’t make me slug you.”
