Our Founders’ GENIUS {as we learned in high-school civics classes back in 1952} CENTERED ON the separated-powers structure’s PURPOSE: – “CHECKs-&-BALANCEs”. This Toles-‘toon shows cleverly-insightfully that America is these days ABANDONING a BASIC FEATURE of her Constitution, – reframing the “checks-&-balances” to become “WRecks-& IMbalances” instead, … even as the Rightist applauders for the current regime pretend to be applauders of the founding document too!! {Kindly forgive the all-caps here, and the odd punctuations.}

I haven’t read the term “bloodless coup” in a while. I think Trump and the Republicans are doing a slow-motion one right now.

The 11th Commandment is NOT, “Say no wrong about fellow Republicans.” It IS, “If the President does it, it’s not illegal!”

Not quite what the founders were hoping for, I’m pretty certain.

If anyone actually learned from history, and Congress had any balls, the installed checks and balances might actually have a purpose.

I agree. A bloodless coup is underway. Big trouble unless something drastic is done quickly.

Toles has it exactly right. Republicans don’t care about much of anything — except for tax cuts for the rich.

They are absolutely united — tax cuts for the rich solves every problem.

After the voters forgot to drain the swamp in the congress and the Republicans stole the Supreme Court seat, Trump can do as Putin pleases.

The Founding Fathers invented the world’s first Liberal Democracy. That was their first mistake. Time to get rid of THAT stupid idea.

Anything that’s “liberal” has to be done away with.

There’s no mechanism for recalling member of Congress, but perhaps people can start recall campaigns against governors who endorsed the lunatic Trump…….
