Well, at least it wasn’t Flaming Moes… I mean Flaming Homers.

Sunny morning y’all.-——-@beviek: Is it a musical (MIDI) keyboard? How long have you been playing? I practice occasionally but I’m not very good at it. Please, post pix of cookies. You have made me hungry.-———Y’all have a rewarding day.

With Andy involved, it’s easy to see how this could happen…

As I read today’s strip, I thought “Hey, Flaming Sambucas” would be a good name for a band." Sure enough…

Hola, qué tal ? The weather played a large part in defusing the organized government protests, particularly by the indigenous peoples of Ecuador. The winter rains kind of put a damper on the “festivities”. That and Cotopaxi going off ! The volcanic eruption was precisely timed by the government to enable them to disperse the crowds, control the news, and declare a state of emergency.Nothing puts the fear of the gods into the locals like a volcano ! At the first signs of it erupting, they left their roadblocks of the PaAm highway, disbanded their march in Quito and Loja and headed ( rapidly) to their homes. So far, Cotopaxi, which is overdue for a major incident, is just rumbling, spewing fumes and some ash but has not completely blown – thank God !

!?! But I love the Andy Capp toon. He may drink, but that doesn’t make him dumb about other things.

@goweeder: Unfortunately you are correct. Sometimes people can’t see the forest for the trees. Be well my friend.

I’m back (I suppose). My Mom died of lung cancer a few weeks ago, and commenting on comic strips seemed suddenly to be completely pointless. I’ve been doing it for years, though, and it was always at least partly pointless. As TV handyman parody Red Green always liked to say, “Any tool can be the right tool.” I’m not sure that the logic follows that “Any distraction can be the right distraction”, but it is a harmless enough distraction (I suppose). As for today’s strip, even a blind drunk can be right twice a day. (Or something to the same defect……)

See, I told you the other day Jack wouldn’t keep Andy banned from the pub! Enjoy your Monday Cappers. I’m watching the rain come down.

What’s the point of it being called “Flaming Sambucas” without the flames?

That’ll be like Simon without Garfunkel or sausages without mashed potato and gravy.

Cockney Rhyming Slang is disappearing…. so much of it is fake, anyway. I’ve been to the East end of London and no-one spoke it.
