Sorry Bob, you are now seeing things through the political prism. Best get away from it.

For a single game, not really. But for a best of seven game playoff series there is a similarity.

    .

Eleven times in NBA finals series history the losing team has outscored the winning team in the series. Most recently in 2013 when Miami beat San Antonio. San Antonio scored 5 more total points in the series. The most the loser has scored over the series winner was in 1958 when St. Louis beat Boston. St. Louis won the series but Boston scored 27 more total points.

Yup. All games should start with the score 84 to 85, with 10 minutes to go….Let’s cut to the chase, here…..

I swear basketball and football defy the Laws of Time.

The last two minutes of either sport seem to go on for an eternity !

Everyone participating in the comments here needs to pick up a freaking civics book and start reading. Especially RedRover.

Here’s a teaser:538 electors = 435 Representatives + 100 Senators + 3 for Washington DC. The electoral college does change based on population, but each state is guaranteed a minimum of 3 electors – 2 for the Senate and at least 1 Representative.

Also, stop talking about right wingers and left wingers like they are some amorphous bogeyman. Each side has lost an election now just based on that rhetoric alone. The GOP in 2012 and the Dems in 2016. Grow up. Realize that those “right wingers” and “left wingers” are still people. Stop dehumanizing your opposition.

Revised basketball game: 60 minutes of cheerleaders, give each team 100 points and then let them play for 4 minutes.

First basketball game I watched ALL THE WAY THROUGH was the 7th game this year.Mostly complete disregard for the rules, just “let ’em play” pickup style.Used to watch OSU, back in the 60s/70s, and some of the Tournament. Can’t watch much anymore, at all, for more than a few minutes.

The Electoral Collage says it only matters how many times the ball goes in the basket. Popular vote would give victory to the team with longest possession.

… yes, and the team with the most “triple-doubles” does not win the game; rather, it’s the one who has the most of what the rules require, just like the Constitution.

Problem with convening a Constitutional convention means that EVERYTHING is on the table, including (for you NRA types) the wording of amendments. That’s why we’ve only had Amendments passed through the legislative/state voting process.

There is one other part they worship: half of the “not enumerated” clause of the tenth. They like power to the states, but not to The People. Just as they like armed mobs in the second, but not the “well-regulated militia” part that precedes it. Cherry-picking combined with nit picking.

But for the Electoral College the less populated states would essentially have no say in the matter. If you live on the left or right coasts, then you are king maker. By the way, it takes a constitutional amendment to change the system. Both the House and Senate each need a 2/3 majority to start the process then each States votes and 3/4 (38) of them must approve it before it becomes law. This will never happen as there are more lower population states than large and you can bet they will never vote to give up power. SO DREAM ON.

The system is designed to work for the people and not against them. If it wasn’t built that way, the election results would not be finalized until a year after the election.

None of our democratic peer nations elect their head of state by popular vote. The head of state is elected by a parliament or by electoral college, as in Germany. The nations that elect their head of state by popular vote are noted for corruption and government instability. Sure, we could be just like Russia or Venezuela, but who wants to be?
