Simple: Colorado, unlike Georgia, doesn’t essentially deny American citizens the right to vote in elections with their STUPID, RACIST LAWS.

Elections have consequences. Enacting racist legislation which suppresses people’s right to vote in elections also has consequences.

States that don’t suppress the vote get rewarded.

Lawmakers can choose how they want to respond. They can sulk and complain about it, or they can learn from it and try something different like an honest attempt at appealing to voters’ interests.

Lick-Spittle Lester rides again, defending the “rights” of the republicans to decide which citizens get the right to vote. Obviously, the ones they don’t like aren’t citizens and have no rights.

I wonder how many of the Georgia businesses that expected to get much of this year’s income from the All-Star game are black-owned.

I’m surprised that Lester’s cartoon isn’t trying to equate MLB with BLM. (Maybe that’ll be tomorrow’s ’toon?)

All kinds of worry and concern suddenly for black owned businesses. Has anyone asked them how they felt?

Remember, these are the people who were handing out the water and supporting black voting initiatives.

Once again, Lester just doodling away, without a clue about reality.

It would be interesting to hear the outcry from Lester, Ramirez, Gorrell and the the rest of the RW shills if they were dropped by GoComics as it would be the exact same discrimination the states are using to purge the voter rolls.

Soooo, the implication being that POC in Atlanta would get 50% of that $100M.

    ROTFLMAO X 100M

Next, Lester will explain why MLB should “return” to its roots [ before Jackie Robinson and Larry Doby ].

This is a good point, perhaps. However, this is a form of sanctioning. When the US sanctions Iran, we essentially say “we’re not doing business with you until you stop doing bad things”. Same here. MLB is saying “you will not get our business because we disagree with your law”. Money talks.

I live in Colorado. We have universal mail-in voting, recognized as one of the best systems in the country, with the second-highest rate of voter turnout in any state. Democracy is still the rule in America. States who do it better, like Colorado, will get rewarded. If Georgians don’t like it, they can elect politicians who don’t fight democracy.

This cartoon obscures another truth, that the game was to be played in Atlanta, the city. MLB rewards franchises that build new parks, which are almost always financed with a lot of taxpayer money, with the All Star Game. Atlanta had a park that was still newer than most league facilities in Atlanta proper, but the club wanted ‘more affluent fans’ (cough cough) so they built their new digs in a mostly white suburb. When the baseball owners think you’re too (openly) racist, rational people might want to give it further consideration.

If you arseholes would read the bill and {pick your god} forbid compare them to other states you might learn something. one of which might be to stop barking every time they ring the bell.

I’m guessing that Lester just does not get the fact that MLB is leaving BECAUSE Atlanta is 50% Black and the GOP does not appreciate their Democratic votes; thus, new laws!

I live in Colorado. We have free and fair elections, mostly by mail, though you can vote in person, if you like. We have a referendum process that works. We also can and do consider changing our Constitution from time to time. We live in a state whose electorate gets clear, bipartisan information from our governments about each matter put to the voters. In writing. Well in advance of the election itself. Our mail in ballots are secure, and we can track each one online to see that it’s been received. You can mail them or put them in one of many drop boxes.

My thanks goes out to all the many county and state officials in Colorado who participate and encourage democratic laws and behaviors. My scorn goes out to the Georgians.

Chinese state media reported on April 1 the extended and expanded TV contract between Major League Baseball and China. (So the MLB must think it’s OK that China is carrying out crimes against humanity and genocide against the Uyghurs? That 21 century concentration camps with over 1000000 people is not as serious as Georgia’s requirement that voters write a driver’s license number or other identifier on absentee-ballot envelopes? (BTW: Ohio, the state where the last All-Star Game was played, has a similar absentee-ballot rule.)

So I guess the MLB will have to move out of New York because New York doesn’t have no-excuse absentee voting and Georgia does. NY offers fewer days of early voting than Georgia, and NY has its own law against giving food and drink to voters.

Another funny way of showing your concern for alleged “voting restrictions” is by moving the All-Star Game to a state that in many ways has voting laws at least as stringent as Georgia’s. To vote in Colorado, a person needs photo identification, just as they do at the will-call window at Coors Field. Like Colorado, Georgia allows voters without ID to use the last four digits of their Social Security number, a bank statement or utility bill, a paycheck, or any other government document with their name and address. Though ID requirements are the provision Democrats hate most, they are broadly popular among voters, which is why they are compelled to use hyperbole and disinformation when talking about the rest of these laws.

MLB’s decision will hurt the very people the league is purporting to support. The game was going to bring economic activity to Atlanta, which is a majority-black city. It would have meant money for hotel and restaurant employees, hot-dog and T-shirt vendors, and other shift workers. Now the game will be in a city with only 9% blacks. #AllStartGameSoWhite

    Good Job MLB!

Still pushing the BS meme, eh, Mike? Didn’t learn the lesson last time?

    https://www.npr.org/2021/04/07/984857562/fact-check-how-colorado-georgia-voting-laws-differ-despite-conservatives-claims

    https://www.nytimes.com/2021/04/07/us/politics/georgia-voting-laws-colorado.html

" In Colorado, every registered voter receives a mail ballot by default.

In Georgia, people who want to vote by mail must apply, and the new law more than halves the time they have to do that: Previously, they could apply as much as 180 days before an election, but now no more than 78 days before. Georgia also forbids officials to send voters an absentee ballot application unless they request it.

In Colorado, eligible voters can register anytime, including on Election Day.

In Georgia, the deadline to register to vote is a month before Election Day, and under the new law, the same deadline applies to any runoff — meaning if a Georgian is not registered by the deadline for the first election, they cannot subsequently register to vote in the runoff.

In Colorado, only newly registered voters have to provide identification with their mail-in ballot; for subsequent elections, all that’s required is their signature. And contrary to Mr. Kemp’s statement, there is no photo requirement: Voters can use a birth certificate, a naturalization document, a Medicare or Medicaid card, a utility bill, a bank statement, a paycheck or another government document that shows their name and address.

In Georgia, only photo identification is acceptable for regular mail-in ballots, and it has to be one of six specific types. The requirement will apply to everyone who votes by mail, not just to newly registered voters as in Colorado."

Lester again tries to pretend he believes racism is a bad thing.

    .

Republicans not only were unable to prove ANY voter fraud, they cited NO evidence in court because doing so would constitute perjury and get them disbarred.

    .

There was NO fraud and the super rushed voter suppression legislation was not intended to address fraud.

It was intended to reduce voter turnout.
