Brad: This smells great, TJ. Y'know, I can't wait to marry Toni, but she's no chef. neither am I. TJ: I could give you guys lessons. Brad: Nah. i'm a fan of eating, but cooking? Bleh. And toni's favorite recipe starts with "open here". TJ: Bradley, a marriage without cooking is like panini without gruyere. TJ: An oreo without filling. Brad: oh.

More clues that maybe Brad & Toni are meant for each other. "Toni’s favorite recipe is “open here.” Toni is a beautiful woman – but not a princess. I think Brad wouldn’t have what it takes to keep a princess happy. He’s lucky that Toni isn’t one.

about Shannon……………… Toni and what his name are siblings, and were taken care of by their uncle and aunt when their parents died……….Toni’s brother was wild, even more than now and he and a girl made Shannon, but that girl needed the wild life so she left the baby to continue it, . Greg half implied but did not confirm that either that girl’s sister married Mr. Lewis and is also the aunt of Shannon or Mr. Lewis is the brother of Shannon’s mom and thus Mrs Lewis is Aunt of Shannon by marriage, they never ever said “that” Shannon’s last name was Lewis, only that her aunt and her baby had Lewis as their last name

I don’t remember an uncle raising Toni and Fishbait. In the strip where Toni tells Brad about her parents being killed, I thought she just said they were raised by “an aunt”. Nor do I remember ever hearing that the aunt is out of the picture, just that T & F “moved here” at some point. That aunt doesn’t necessarily have to be much older than Frank and Nancy.
Who said anything about an uncle? For that matter, do we know that there is only one aunt or uncle in the Daytona family? Might there be cousins around somewhere?

My Mom taught me how to cook, by showing me a few basics, then saying “If you want to eat, you’d better figure this out!” Both me and my brother learned, so we wouldn’t starve! :p

Brad should just tell TJ the truth instead of trying to con him. He wants TJ to live with them and cook for them.
Keep on keepin' on over 7 years ago
For those wondering about TJ living with the Toni/Brad couple – there was a mention of “saving money” by Brad moving in with Toni (I think Toni was talking). This was while Brad was squeezed into her chair, hence “…but Brad won’t fit”. So, Toni moves in with Brad AND TJ. Toni’s rent is probably significantly less than the rent on the house, and if it’s just Brad and Toni in the house, how will they save money? Couples HAVE been known to make just such “sacrifices”, although I understand it’s not as nice as if they could have both space AND privacy.

That is very nice of TJ to offer them cooking lessons, and very lazy of Brad to reject his kind offer. Brad will be a plump lump in a few years if he keeps eating processed food.

They had first planned on a September 11th wedding to honor the 9/11 firefighters, but the week that the fire department could let them both have off begins on December 11.

Brad has stated previously that the cooking duties are rotated amongst the firefighters; ergo, Brad has served a lot of Oreos and Chef Boyardee in his career.

How can someone NOT know how to cook? I enjoy it and being the cook you get to flavor things the way YOU like them. Of course I also don’t see how people can have a house and not a garden, but that’s just me.

Why does anyone care that there are repetitive easily answered questions in the comments? If those folks were interested enough to read FAQ, wouldn’t they already know the answer? Just pass them by like you would a cackling hen.

Sage words from one whose own home life was – from what we know – less than traditional. It is possible to get by with little or no cooking these days, but cooking and all that goes with it can be a delightful way to interact and practice sharing, cooperation, compromise, and a whole host of other important relationship skills. And as a bonus, you get to eat the “lesson!”
Actually, we know that TJ’s father was a non-entity in his life. Was his mother a single mother? Might that have contributed to TJ becoming a good cook?

Yep. “Cook” in the past has had a range of slang meanings, hense my convoluted attempt at a joke.
RSH over 7 years ago
I agree with TJ. Cooking is a life skill that everyone should have. If you have common sense, can put a pot on the stove and turn on the gas, then you can cook. I have a pot with broth, vegetables and whatever bubbling away gently almost every day, unless it is 95 degrees outside. I think peoples’ expectations of what constitutes a meal are too high and the media, with all these cooking shows (which I never watch) and photos of perfect looking this or that, is partly to blame. If Brad is a fan of eating then he needs to be a fan of cooking. It is part of growing up… the way I see it.
