I guess it’s a good thing that Quill prepared Gunther, by having him roll down that incline earlier in the year… – “…And I said, ‘you better cash in!’…. (♫)”(“The Mountain Song”, Jane’s Addiction) – I guess Greg didn’t like that wall map from yesterday, so he drew his own and sent it to Rosa…And maybe he rearranged a couple of places for their benefit….

Wow Quill is the guy with the answers. Gunther, “losing me to be with her” – at least for a while- sounds like a good education for you – like all education – it should improve your experiences later in life. And Rosa’s not just any girl.

    Ya know…the more I think about this…

Rosa is a kite, flying into the wild blue yonder. Left to herself, she will fly too high and crash.

Gunther is the string. He must keep Rosa grounded, plan her flight paths, and guide her energy into useful avenues. Left to himself, he would be an unused string at his mom’s house.

Rosa has the idealism and drive to go to the mountains in the first place, but once there, she must let Gunther plan the actual method of helping the people there. Only then will her energy and enthusiasm be well directed.

Well, I was busy all day today…didn’t even make the bed until 7 pm! (And I am a “must make the bed first thing in the morning” person!). So, I think I will find IS Katie, throw the towels in the dryer, and call it a day. "Nite all! ;)-——————————————————————“Is it so bad, then, to be misunderstood? And a Good Bet NO Cell Phone Coverage. So Unless YOU have an Expensive “SAT Phone” You’ll be Cut OFF from the Outside World and to What’s Going On with Your Mom and Mr. “Friend”.

Merely by coincidence, I just finished reading one of Ellis Peters’s Brother Cadfael novels, “The Leper of St. Giles,” in which a young man in love with a wealthy girl grows up quickly (and becomes worthy of the girl he loves) by spending time with people much less fortunate than he — in this case, people with leprosy in a medieval hospice. Maybe Gunther should read the book.

Gunther doesn’t seem to realize that in order to grow, you cannot keep what you are. You need to augment it. You will also find out that not every experience will be what you would consider fun. Deal with it. Stop dreading every new experience.

Finally, the Gunther character, asks a pivotal question. He does not have a mother issue. In the absence of a father, he just became her protector, the only guy around. In the same way, I would not be comfortable leaving my dog with a stranger. Would they beat her? Would they starve her? Would she run away and get lost? But, now Gunther questions Rosa, and what she is doing to him, not FOR him. If they were sleeping together, he might feel more secure, but there is no evidence of that. At this point, he is just her reluctant companion, getting tidbits of attention as his only gratification. He is beginning to realize that he just might be wasting his time.

@melmarsh9v: I don’t know why we should assume that Mr. Grey is either single, widowed or divorced. He could be married! Aside from Ms. Berger having her hand on his arm in one panel, I haven’t see any sign of a romantic attachment between the two of them.

And don’t forget, Mickey Dolenz told us about “Mrs. Grey, she’s proud today because her roses are in blo-oo-om”. Although that was a while back. She could be this bloke’s mother…

Going back to live with Mom is going backwards, Gunther. Stay right where you are or go to the clinic in the mountains. I vote for you going to the clinic in the mountains. You might learn something in the comic strip world. Your readers just might learn something about clinics in the mountains of Peru.

I never said I thought they were perfect for each other, or even good for each other. What I’m saying is that she didn’t force him to go to Peru with her. She asked if he would come, the same as you’d do if you were seeing someone and still wanted to spend time with that person. But she never said ‘if you don’t come with, I don’t want to see you anymore.’-Plus, there’s a big difference between a girl asking a guy to show affection (which is mostly what Rosa is doing in the comics you’re showing to support your belief about her), and a girl asking a guy to give up whatever he planned to do in future in order to follow her dream….

All I want to say is that I have tried to get away from this strip, I keep coming back and reading it! Thank you, Mr. Greg Evans for keeping me reading this strip close to 30 years! Someone who writes & draws a comic strip like this knows what he or she’s doing this is a master of this craft! His Reuben proves it!

Anyway, I don’t Blame Gunther for being suspicious about his mother going out with another man. I feel like since Gunth didn’t have a Father growing up, he was supposed to be the man of the house (His Mom is proud of her “little man”, just as Rose is proud of Piscal. ) I didn’t like Gunther leaving his house, so I also would feel concerned about her because he doesn’t want her to be used.

Quinn is doing a good job at handling this situation in finding were Gunther’s “true love” is at. I can’t understand why Gunther would make an attempt in doing something bold like leaving to South America. I think Gunther should follow his heart. Maybe Gunther and Luann should part ways for awhile.

Finally, Gunther is a character who lacks self-confidence. Mr. Evans wrote me 20 years ago about this subject in which many people in life DO lack self-confidence in their lives, it’s normal, and I am one person after 49 years that has this trait. Gunther has fell into this problem probably from past experiences in your life. You feel like you are one Cloud 9 when you do an exam thinking you would ace it and then, Boom! You fail the test! I’ve had that many times in my life and I did feel like a fool also.

One more thing on this subject. I feel like Gunth shouldn’t care about being a “Mama’s Boy.” So what! Gunther had to be the man of the house because his Dad wasn’t around or someone to help him. I am an only child and I wasn’t spoiled, but I was disciplined good! There were times in my life my father wasn’t around because my parents were separated, but my late mother wanted to do her best to train me to be a good and honest man. And I thank Eula Lee Chavis-Ostrem for this.

“Do You Know Where You’re Going To” was the alternate title, and the chorus in it, but the song is “Theme From Mahogany”, from the movie of the same name, performed by Diana Ross, and starring Diana Ross, as an “it girl/star model”….-

I’m also now reminded of “Do You Know The Way To San Jose” from Bacharach/David, as performed by Dionne Warrwick(e) and the Carpenters (and a few others) also comes to mind, when I think about this. – “Where Do We Go From Here?” by Chicago is also a good one! – Actually, now that I think about it, there’s also “I’ve Been Searchin’ So Long” and “Wishin’ You Were Here” by Chicago could fit, too…

"@The Liam: Have we ever figured out how Quill managed to a) come back b) come back so quickly c) with no other reason apparently than for Luann.

JPW: To answer that last part:

He’s also pursuing an acting career.

^Me: And to “chime in” on another portion: Previous strips showed Quill getting his visas/schooling/work/residence/career plan arrangements done pretty promptly, in order to have Quill have a “reason” to come back to the U.S. for “better opportunities” to make it big in acting (but ultimately to give Luann a “permanent scar boyfriend” [sorry, couldn’t help myself!
