Those headaches are caused by the ice cream hitting the back of the throat or roof of one’s mouth. If he lets the ice cream sit on his tongue for a moment before swallowing, he will be fine.

Didn’t some mega-corporate (numerically-named) entity try to copyright the term “brain freeze”?

I forget which “Far Side” successor I clipped this from: Dorothy, the Tin Man, and the Lion are all holding ice cream cones in one hand and pressing the other to their foreheads, with pained expressions, while the Scarecrow licks merrily away.

Brain freeze is your brain telling you to stop gobbling your ice cream.
