I predict that this strip will push Crankshaft further into the background and bring in more comic books, pizza, Dinkle and Dead Lisa. Painful enough for the Funkyverse?

“Tom’s comics will always SUCK!” (long pause) (Much longer and more painful pause) Tom shrieks: “YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO SAY NOT!”

Umm, that “Death of the Justice League” issue (JL #75) is from April of 2022! The “deceased” Leaguers have by now mostly returned in their own books or other series (including a current one where they fight Godzilla and Kong). Why is DSH John displaying it and talking it up like it’s a new book and the death angle is a hot topic (one that was played out during 1993’s “Death of Superman” arc in 1993, when novices bought up multiple copies of polybagged books thinking they’d be worth beaucoup bucks)? Of all the modern comics topics Batiuk could discussed in this storyline he probably composed a year ago, this one makes the least amount of sense.

Oh, and TB: You can sneak in plugs for them all you want. Funko is not going to make a series of “Funky WInkerbean/Crankshaft” Pops. Stop trying to make it happen.

Yeah, and Captain America didn’t die, when was that, the 2000s? Spoiler Alert: Tom is VERY behind the times. (SPOILER: Bruce Willis was DEAD ALL THE TIME, and Soylent Green is made of HUMA—oh. You heard that?) TOM, going back to notes: “And SPOILER, Stuart Little WAS A MOUSE!”

Based on the dialogue and my poor eyesight, I thought that book was The Collected Works of Lynn Johnston.

Good point, Tom. It sure isn’t like your beloved silver age, when readers were on the edge of their seats every month wondering if Lois might actually discover Clark Kent was really Superman.

All comics and no humor make ‘Crankshaft’ a dull read.

Somewhat off-topic but I wish there were more “cartoony” comic books out there (we used to have SpongeBob Comics and Scott Roberts’ Patty-Cake, but those are long gone). I was never huge on comic books mostly being about superhero stuff.

Another day of an avalanche of word balloons. If the last couple of days worth were snow the town would be buried and in trouble.

And has Mitch aged since he walked into the strip? I know his age fluctuates wildly, but usually not in the same thread.

DSH John appears quite jowly in the second panel. If you removed the dead skunk, he’d look like he was in his eighties with all that white hair. Only his toupee maker knows for sure.
