this puts me in mind of the old Pogo cartoons which Walt Kelly drew for decades: and in them, if you recall, he used Pogo’s swamp boats for innumerable political jabs, (sometimes layered meanings like this one) as well as waving hello to friends and other people. Non Seq. is a cartoon in much the same waters, which may be why it’s so enjoyable.

The sad thing, this strip was written ages ago and it’s still relevant. It’s now the time of year where the baseball team I root for has changed to Anyone But the Yankees.

Red Sox are sucking it up

I am a true baseball masochist ! All my life I have been an avid Red Sox and Cub fan. Talk about continually building up your expectations in the Spring, only to have them dashed by the Fall ! At least one of my teams has won a World Series in my lifetime…

I’m with you totally, I tell the guys at work the same thing.

Sports are nothing but light entertainment. What entertains me about it is the fact that so many people take it so seriously.

The Anoesis was given its name after a reader poll was conducted. It occurred here, I believe. At least that’s where I remember reading about it, as I don’t read this strip anywhere else. An appropriate name.

Fritzg, I am a Yooper at heart. Yea, when I’m up there, I realize I’m not the only Packer fan in Michigan. I feel less alone…Bdaysuit, bring it on! My favorite is when the Pack beats ’em on Thanksgiving Day…..Priceless…

red sox suck. bobby v is trying to impose discipline on a team who never had any clubhouse discipline. and, blowing a 19 game lead. then, again, it is baseball.

I love reading Capt`n Eddie`s stories – out loud.

I apologize for my glee, but I’m rejoicing in the clinching of the central division by the Cincinnati Reds. As frosting on the cake, the Bengals won against the Washington Redskins. I’m a bit embarrassed to say that I’m SO happy! These times are few.

Actually, “fore”, “aft”, “amidships”, “abeam”, etc. are used to imply direction relative to the bridge of the ship. The front of the boat is called the “bow”, and the rear the “stern”.

OK american cousins, then you gotta feel sorry for Liverpool Football Club supporters! 19 years without a league title. On the immediate horizon . . . nuthin’ . . . nuthin’ at all (except maybe relegation come end of season)
