I would LOVE to go camping again! Smell the green, feel the creek over my bare feet, wander along a trail; outdoor fire cooking. All that! I sooo miss it!
I found an old Thermos (Coleman?) 3-gallon container among my stored stuff. We used it while camping when I was a kid – and it still works today! It’s the one with the wood-grain look, the moveable “faucet” and the inner cup and outer lid. It’s at least 45 years old and it still keeps the ice as ICE for over 8 hours. Built when things were meant to last.
I use it now when I work at the Saturday Market; gives me cold water all day when the temp is hot hot hot!

The green, the wind in yer face, the thunderstorms, the rain lashing against the tent so loudly you can’t hear your tent-mate; the cleaning up of the camp the next morning… Good times! :)

What did kids do, before 3G, WiFi, smartphones, 24/7 texting, facebook, etc? Did they play games? Interact with other people? Have a life?

No WiFi? We saw a trash truck the other day with a collector hanging on to the handle with one hand and texting with the other.

With the U.S. states having a draught conditions, I’m surprised the scenry is so lush with green. With a comic strip all will be perfect minus bugs.

Where I live, school starts back the first week in August. I used to hate this strip cause where the writer lives, those kids are still out for summer. .. This year I do not mind, cause I have retired this past May from the classroom. It feels good to enjoy this comic now.

MIght as well put that phone away, after turning it off to save the battery first, and enjoy camping.

I remember sittling around a campfire singing all those little church songs. We were way up in the Allegheny Mountains of PA. It was like being in heaven almost.

Doctor 11, don’t you remember yesterday’s strip, when she screamed out “I hate camping”?
