Almost got Holme’s friend, the schoolmaster, too, as I recall.

It’s not a father necessarily, it’s just another figure. There are plenty of dads who hate reading books and probably know nothing about Sherlock Holmes. She just needs as many caring, loving, adults that can fit into her life whether it’s a female figure or a male.

One of Doyle’s weakest efforts. At least it was better than the Speckled Band with the snake that could drink milk and answer to the sound of a whistle.

He reads, he’s great with Alix…

Nicole, i disagree 100% Children need role models, a father and a mother are best, but all kids need at least 1 member of each sex to trust and try to understand. Uncles, grandfathers can fill this role, usually. A single mom who has a series of boyfriends is doing her children wrong.

Perhaps Heart could do with a visit to Alix’s house.And maybe the two of them would enjoy reading “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.”

As to starting the topic of “I think the girls need a father figure” probably needs to be gradma, not Phil, or Val will think he’s trying to “take over”. If gradma talks to Val in private, Val may go along with it.

I’m just glad Alix has a male who does not tune her out and really listens and talks with her.

YES! Heart would so enjoy a visit with Alix. So would I for that matter. And I’d love to see those two together. Maybe send Ruthie in there, too.

Cool, Phil’s introduced her to AC Doyle. The little Science Detective’s got Sherlock Holmes and Professor Challenger to read up on.

On the “father figure” topic. Why does it need to be discussed? He’s doing it. Hurrah Phil!
