I guess that’s Gil in the third panel. The drawing seems intentionally crude compared with the first two. Instead of a right hand, Gil has a claw like Lobster Boy, and what’s with that poor excuse of a hat on his head?

I admire Darby. Yes, this is a comic, but her character is given a soul and mind, good depth. Not all characters on here are developed that well. She chose at a young age to have the baby and then keep it.

Gil didn’t have time to change out of his uniform from the valet parking job.

Gil just got back from the Belmont Stakes where he rode Berrill’s Memory to a fifth place finish. Which is where his squad will finish if they don’t get some pitching.

P1: Mimi- “I can imagine what your going through, The readers ridicule Gil and me because our kids vanished.” P3: Gil never wore a uniform, much less one that did not fit, when Mr. Berrill provided the strip. The small cap on Thro p’s head is due to swellheadednes and Gil’s improving golf game.

Keep checking out those trees. Something is defintely going on with the growth and it is going to mess up golf season.

It appears to be Ty Cobb Day at Valley Tech, and Thorp is just getting into the spirit of things.

P1 – Is that really Mimi? She’s just about younger than her daughter probably is now, if she is ever found.P3 – Wow, after all the giant hands we’ve been seeing poor Gil’s seems to have shrunken. I don’t think he’s capable of holding the ball in that thing.

Max, he does look like a lawn jockey! We had a few in our neighborhood when I was growing up, and around 1968 people painted their faces white.

Maybe the third panel looks so odd because Rod Whigham let his young son draw it, the way Family Circus used to pretend Billy was a guest artist.

decten, Gil’s cap does have vertical stripes….I think you meant to say that the Bucs had horizontal stripes, which is correct….i was just making an allegorical observation anyway.
