too bad there isn’t some kind of device where you could actually talk to people using your voice rather than a glorified typewriter. maybe one will be invented one day.hope Gene didn’t cave. the last strip with Mary Lou in it last week seem to show she didn’t care if he came back or not. in that case i’d say he dodged a bullet and should move on.

Gotta agree with Arlo about her eyes…

of course the email could be from Gus pleading for him to come back for the start of the summer season or maybe he’s getting hits from his posting on some dating sites.

I think she’s just stunned at the innate speed in which he (and his generation) is capable of pounding out his messages—note his blurred fingers, compared to her and Arlo’s ‘hunt and peck’ speed.

Physiologically, we just aren’t equipped to eavesdrop on text conversations from a distance. Janis should just get the binoculars and get it over with.

Just get binoculars like every other self-respecting peeper and gossip. Sheesh! ;-)

I had to read the comments to figure out why her eyes were bulging and it turns out, we really don’t know for sure. Any of the explanations offered could be the right one. Should comics be THIS complicated????

Given the theme of the last four days’ strips, there is no way this can be about anything except Janis wanting to know the content of Gene’s and Mary Lou’s e-mails!

I am sure this text messaging is simply the start of the “make-up” phase of this minor tiff. Janis is IMHO straining to try to make out the conversation on the smart phone (eavesdropping so-to-speak).
