The GOP is just showing their love of children and pregnant women. Mercury damages brains in the developing fetus and in children. Environmental deregulation is the GOPs/big industries gain at the citizens expense.
The list of “anti-regulatory”, and ANTI-PEOPLE, House Resolutions is THE most disgusting effort since South Carolina did “their thing”. No, not today, 150 years ago.
EVERY environmental law is anathema to Corporations, and thus, Republicans. EVERY effort to SAVE this nation has been fought by the “opposition”. It isn’t just dangerous, it’s positively disgusting. Listening to Boehner and Newt is now like listening to the bald-faced lies and bravado of Benito, and the “Italian cruise director”. The only difference is these cowards aren’t threatening Italy, or a cruise ship, but OUR nation, and nearly everything it truly stands for.
The “common man” and the “commons” is anathema, only corporate, or princely private wealth has any standing with them. George the Third wasn’t king of England, but a prince from Texas. The “rebels” need to look back four years to see the real danger, and consider that the current crop of “Republicans”, aren’t any more, and ARE a dangerous threat to us all.
Those who want to strip the environmental regulations don’t have to live and work where they dump their crap. Thus out of sight out of mind. Employees are simply work elements and of no regard.
@onguard-in spite of your idiotic insults, read what fennic says.
the cartoon is about hobbling/emasculating regulating agencies. If you can’t see the strategy for one is the strategy for all, then you’re the ‘dim-lib’.
good environment IS good for the economy.
the problem is one party always tries to screw up the regulations of the other party to “prove” it doesn’t work.
the republicans put stuff in obamacare to make it not work well, then point to the very things they put in the law as the reason it has to go.
the republicans let the industry write the regulations to their benefit, then point to “over-regulation” as the reason it didn’t work.
the whole thing is ridiculous.
correct regulation needs to be utilized correctly. Of course the industry needs to be involved, but you don’t let industry write it’s own benefits and call that regulation.
Coal mine laws ignored in Utah. Unsafe conditions led to miners deaths under lacking oversight by mining regulators, who ignored the obvious problems. Onguard thinks more of that is a good thing. My Grandfather worked in the mines to send all his 5 children to college. He was a carpenter, and fine wood carver who built the neighborhood he lived in as well. He died of lung disease from the mines he worked, in Nova Scotia.Canada.
Reguations, OSHA, EPA, financials are not about more costs. Regulations just determine who pays those costs. Less mine regulation? Then dead mine workers and their families pay the cost of unsafe working conditions. And so on. It is more than a little ironic that implementing environmental and osha regulations creates jobs. Somebody has gotta make those scrubbers and safetly equipment. The repubs seem to be saying “jobs”, but they really mean “protect the corporations and the rich.”
it’s a good point eepatt, corporations don’t need to breathe the air and drink the water. therefore they don’t need regulation, unless that regulation is drafted to give them financial benefits.
Onguard merely makes a valiant effort to defend the Con-dumb view. What they don’t realize is, that in the highly polluted world of “Blade Runner”, and other sci-fi flicks and books, NO HUMANS WOULD STILL BE ALIVE! The current Teapublican crop don’t understand biological systems, and CO2 has too big a number for them to comprehend. After all, there ARE two oxygen atoms, and oxygen is good for us, right??
Sodium chloride is rather a lovely thing, and dissolves readily in water. I might suggest onguard combine some water with pure sodium to see a “difference”? Phosphorous in water, versus in oil is also an “interesting” contrast- oil burns, water doesn’t, right?
Ocean acidification is a very serious problem and is affecting all oceans eco-systems today. It is not some nutty scientist projecting into the future, it is happening now! For those interested I highly recommend the below article and all the related articles found at ScienceDaily.com.The below is taken from the article, “Ocean Acidification Leaves Clownfish Deaf to Predators”ScienceDaily May 31, 2011 at http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2011/05/110531201221.htm
Since the Industrial Revolution, over half of all the CO2 produced by burning fossil fuels has been absorbed by the ocean, making pH drop faster than any time in the last 650,000 years and resulting in ocean acidification. Recent studies have shown that this causes fish to lose their sense of smell, but a new study published in Biology Letters shows that fish hearing is also compromised
How about the FAA too. Next time you fly without the regulations and safety procedures that are required, but cost so much money to implement, may be your last.

How do you expect Big Money Corporations to afford to hire new employees unless they can get rid of the old ones.

i like clean air, clean water and trees.i like that the airlines i fly on are highly regulated.i like there are air traffic controllers.
and in spite of the ridiculousness, i like that the TSA screens me and my fellow passengers before getting on the plane.
and i’m willing to pay for it all.
