Is Petey having deja vu all over again—except for the same bee?

Oh, Petey! As much as you would like, you cannot dwell in the safely, reassuringly predictable past. Go boldly into the future! Cartoon camp is sure to be fun (at least for us out here)!

Comic art can be subjective.. That said though.. I’ve always felt Richard Thompson has some incredible ability to recreate a pretty realistic childhood experience but in a way that adults can find entertaining more so than kids would. If you’re looking for jokes, one liners and slapstick.. This isn’t particularly the strip for you. I came across this strip from Pearls Before Swine and though its pretty different, they’re probably my 2 favorite strips at this point. Just enjoy the ride.. Or stop reading :)

Most of us who read it regularly, LOVE Richard’s art – and many other cartoonists admire him as well.

This is my very favorite comic strip. Probably because I love kids and because I know childhood isn’t as easy as some forgetful adults seem to think. Richard captures the delight and angst of being a kid as well as the patient, loving efforts of the best Mom ever. The Reuben was well won, Richard! Keep up the great work.

To bee or not to bee!Cul de Sac does a wonderful job of portraying children, adults and the idiosyncracies that make up every member of the population.

@complainers. I’m all about the 1st amendment but I find it very peculiar to bother to take time out of your day to read a comic you don’t like and then post your dissatisfaction online. Particularly online, if you get the paper and it’s one of the daily or Sunday strips, that’s one thing, but you have to go out of your way to read this online and then criticize it in a way that other people who read it will see the criticism. And yes, I am aware of the irony inherent in this post, but I actually like Cul de Sac, so it’s not that strange really.

I have been a teacher for over 30 years, and I have yet to see a kid as neurotic as Petey is. I doubt that, at least in Petey’s case, this represents realisitic childhood behavior.

I’m a little more Petey; he’s a little more M. Scott Peck. Sorry, Donnie; apologies, Marie.

Prior to Cul de Sac, Thompson had earned my devotion for “Richard’s Poor Almanac”, including his ode created of GW Bush’s malaprops and—the best—“This Week’s Restaurant Closings”.

This is my number one favorite strip, a worthy successor to Calvin & Hobbes and 60s era Peanuts. A job well done, Richard! “You can’t please everyone, so…”
