Last year had a Blue dasher Dragonfly land on my hand when I held it out!! I wished at the time I was one of those people that always had a smart phone in my hand to get a picture of it!
I gloated silently during an outdoor sermon while a butterfly rested on my hand, so proud that I didn’t even try to keep it from flying away when it flew to the Pastors wife and landed on her she cupped it to trap it there. I was very sad and disappointed. Not only was it mean but just touching a butterfly’s wings make the insect weaker, which makes their journey up north to warmer weather more difficult.
Skippers are known for landing you your hands or arms. How wonderful when the first skipper landed. Then I learned that they land on us just to get the sweat (salt needed by then). It still is wonderful especially as you are providing a needed nutrient for them.
There’s a kind of white butterfly that tends to travel in pairs, circling each other as they fly upwards. Once, not long after my dad passed away, a white butterfly came up where I was sitting and delicately touched my ankle, then went up a bit higher, again and again, until it had gone all the way up my side to my head. Don’t know why it would do such a thing, but it was magical.

The best things in life are free. You have to have taste for happiness and the Gumbo’s have it, Meemaw’s legacy.

It’s all that garlic you love, Rose! When you cut it or onions, they tend to stay away from the hands!

Had one land on my hand once. And like Garfield, I was amazed at how cold their feet were.

I wonder if Lil’ Jimbo will point out the second butterfly to Rosie.
