By golly, it’s my day off – I’m heading up there and I’m going to tape Chesney’s mouth shut so Annie can get some dog walking jobs without him getting in the way. Anybody with me on that?

    Today is:

NATIONAL PET DAY. While every day is Pet Day for those of us who have and love our pets, National Pet Day dedicates the day to those pets who may not always get the companionship and attention pets deserve. While loving our pets is something we do every day, the observance encourages helping out orphaned pet companions. It will improve their health and enhance their opportunities for adoption.

NATIONAL EIGHT TRACK TAPE DAY. I had reel-to-reel tapes and I still have cassette tapes, but I never had 8 track tapes.

    NATIONAL LIVING DONOR DAY

    NATIONAL CHEESE FONDUE DAY

    NATIONAL SUBMARINE DAY

NATIONAL ALCOHOL SCREENING DAY. National Alcohol Screening Day raises awareness about the harmful effects of alcohol abuse and alcohol dependency. Each year on the Thursday of the first full week in April, these screens offer anonymous and confidential opportunities for those with addiction to seek help.

    NATIONAL BARBERSHOP QUARTET DAY

Patrick McDonnell is the creator of ‘Mutts’ comic strip. I had to look that up to get the reference. They’re not really pets, but my first ducks of the season showed up in my driveway this morning. Two pairs waiting for chicken scratch….they’ll have to wait until tomorrow as I need to go to the feed store to buy some. Last year I spent close to $500 on feed for them. I love my ducks…so I guess maybe they are my pets. Last year they showed up on the 15th., so they are here a little earlier this year.

Chesney, do be quiet for once in your life. Annie’s trying to make money to put food in your tummy.

Long drive yesterday, made longer by making a detour to Wickenburg so he could shop t National Roper Supply. (NRS) Yay. It took forever to get to the hotel once we hit the outskirts of Phoenix. This are has grown and spread out 100 fold since we were here last time. And, it’s hot! Boo. Today, we’ll go see if he can get at least one ticket to a Diamondbacks game.

Chesney is not a good public relations manager, Annie.

Chesney’s developed a pronounced speech impediment.

He does answer to that, although for the most part you don’t want him to.

Sounds like someone needs to go to the loading dock. Petal sounds like a nice name for a dog (or any other animal) if a bit unusual. On another note, saw five chickadees and three robins while out walking today.
