War seems inevitable. Humans love a war. First the neighbor’s tree then the nation’s claims. Victory in the future may mean standing tall on a mountain of Trinitite.

No label was shown on how effective this NATO Russian Bear spray is. Perhaps we should judge its effectiveness on which countries meet their obligations? If you want Ukraine to join NATO then prepare to step up. If a neutral Ukraine is then only solution possible then you should step up. I would keep my eyes on the Baltics, Poland, and Hungary. If they aren’t 100% then the organization has failed. Where are the rest of you who say one thing but can’t meet your financial and military share? Without you Ukraine is lost.

Trump wants to reward Russia by giving up Ukraine’s land in exchange for stopping the war. That is called an appeasement. Ask the world how well that worked in 1939?

Trump is a coward, a Putin lover, and cannot be re-elected.

On Sunday, Representative Michael R. Turner (R-OH), chair of the House Intelligence Committee, said it is “absolutely true” that Republican members of Congress are parroting Russian propaganda. “We see directly coming from Russia attempts to mask communications that are anti-Ukraine and pro-Russia messages, some of which we even hear being uttered on the House floor,” he said on CNN’s State of the Union.

Russia is NOT our friend. It never will be. At best it is a “friendly” competitor.

The Soviet Union destroyed itself trying to keep up with us. The Russians, under Putin, are going to do the same.

If we keep NATO strong, if we continue to support Ukraine, we can do the same to Putin that we did to Gorbachev.

We are a STRONG, POWERFUL nation, and we are stronger with NATO. We can do many great things. We can be a force for growth, prosperity and stability.

But ONLY if we stay the course and support our allies. We need courage, honor and integrity to go along with our strengths.

We cannot allow ourselves to become the bully that Trump wants us to be.

What I get a big kick out of is for years and years Putin has tried to destroy NATO. Turkey was a wedge. But with his invasion of Ukraine this has backfired. Finland and Sweden are now members. If you look at a map. With these 2 countries in NATO it has complete control of the gulf of Finland and the Baltic Sea. The port of Saint Petersburg is completely under the guns of NATO. If NATO decides to close the Baltic Sea to Russian ships there is not a thing they can do about it.

NATO’s new motto is taken directly from “Nineteen Eighty-Four”:

    War is peace.

    Freedom is slavery.

    Ignorance is strength.

I think that people here are seeing Trump’s face in the tea leaves at the bottom of their tea cups, Trump’s face in cloud formations, golden brown fried chicken, Trump’s hair, They trip on a frozen sidewalk loaf and it’s Trump’s fault.

Black bear droppings are smaller and often contain berries, leaves, and possibly bits of fur. Grizzly bear droppings tend to contain small bells and smell of Bear spray.

Biden and NATO are slowly realizing the Russian Bear is Grizzly. I wish this were a joke too!

I have trouble deciding if Trump is actually as stupid as some of the things he says or if he is just counting on his supporters being that stupid. And this goes back decades. It isn’t just a symptom of whatever is wrong with him now. Maybe he has just said some crazy stuff so many times that he’s started believing himself.

It seems to me that it is not so much that NATO needs to be disbanded but redefined in its mission and needs to find common ground much as it was when it was first established against the Soviets and other communist – socialist governments. Who is the common enemy that all these nations oppose and what would be the unifying principle that would band these nations together? The world has changed a lot since I served from 75-95 and our weaponry and battlefield must evolve to meet a new or even old common threat. NATO as designed worked mainly because the US and Reagan got the Soviets to back down. A doctrine of appeasement to aggressor nations will not work as it did not work then and it will not work now. Common and equal funding of the defense of NATO nations from those nations would need to be a priority and a policy of if you don’t pay your fair share then obviously you don’t seem to be placing priority on the defense of your own nations border. This would begin by each nations defining their own borders and establishing clear and policies as to who is allowed in and who is not so these don’t change depending on who is elected.
