What’s most amusing about the eclipse is the flood of right wing conspiracy theories that have been spreading. Alex Jones tells his audience that the total eclipse is a plot to usher in the New World Order. And there are some poor ignorant fools who will believe such nonsense. I’m quite sure that there will be some people who have no idea there is an eclipse coming who will say that four and a half minutes of darkness in the middle of the afternoon was Joe Biden’s doing. LOL
It’s going to be around 50% here. The equivalent of a cloudy day. Meh. I have my own technique of observing the eclipse: Take a piece of cardboard and poke a pinhole in it. The sun shines through and you get an image of the event on the ground. Any trees with leaves will also cast shadows in a similar way.
We’re in the totality zone, but with 82% chance of rain, we might not get to use our glasses. Can you imagine the people who are spending thousands of dollars to travel to a spot, only to have Mother Nature say, “No, not today. Maybe in 2044.” I’m kind of neutral. If I get to see it, that’ll be good, but if I don’t, I’m not going to cry over it.

I got mine at American Science and Surplus back in Milwaukee last century. They’re easy to find. Alas, we’re getting 50%.

I sort of doubt the animals will do more than think it’s nightfall.

I guess I’ve been lucky. I was in elementary school when I saw my first total solar eclipse… and I didn’t even have to travel to see it.

I got my eclipse glasses. Here in Mexico, they’re selling them from the newsstands and snack wagons.

We’re driving to southern Illinois in the path of totality. We all have welding helmets with #12 shade lenses.

I have mine from the eclipse of 2017. Since they aren’t bent, torn, or scratched they are good to go.

Now if only there were a way to not have to see Trump all the time in the news.

We saw a total eclipse a few years ago here in Kentucky. We went to bowling green to the hotrods baseball field. It was amazing.

I’ve seen two total eclipses in my life, neither one impressed me.
