I really think they need a National Be Outraged Day. You know, get it off their chest, beat the drums, march in tiki-torch parades, that sort of thing.
The only ones I saw screaming about masks, were the snowflakes crying about wearing them. There was one outside menards throwing a good hissy fit. “They are trampling on my rights”.
^^^^@DC Swamp: Leftists and other sane people are pro choice for everything, including abortion, which car to drive and which stove to use. They are also pro choice when it comes to listening to orange drivel.
“Forced” in the good old days it was illegal to buy it, you had to rent it. The spring – coil cord was an addition $.10 month, a colored phone an additional $.25 ( multiple by 8 – 10 to get 2024 $). Today $10 month rental fee. Service for ATT landline $45 – $55 month.
“I feel like it’s the early 2000s,” Buttigieg said in defense of the Biden administration’s EV policies which aim for 50% EV sales by 2030, “and I’m talking to some people who think we can just have landline phones forever.”
If you have the misfortune of being scheduled for surgery, please advise the hospital that you don’t want to be charged for masks, gloves, and gowns. Also, if you don’t want to be forced to have your children inoculated for measles, mumps. polio home school them.
The two people in the country who care about this topic wouldn’t be voting blue in the first place.
The woman in Florida who needs an abortion because the fetus inside of her is not viable, and old white Republican men are forcing her to carry it to term*, thus jeopardizing her ability to have other children in the future, will be voting Blue.
It is that woman who will vote in November, putting the state of Florida in play for Democrats.
P.S. *Talk about forcing people to do what they want…
“… Many articles say that once the charging stations are abundant as gas stations, we will have better EV adoption in US, but EV charging is very different from gas, you can easily setup a EVSE charger at home for about $1k, and any parking spot, even places like NYC, if they can put a parking meter there, they can easily put up a charger, yes, it’s not DCFC, but you don’t need FCs everywhere if you have plenty of EVSEs around the country in parking lots, and if that accompanies with solar panels, you can even offer free charging. And if that happens in enough places/parking lots, people will choose EVs much easier. …” — Reddit
But actions have consequences, and “freedom” doesn’t mean you get to escape the consequences of your actions. Spewing more CO2 into the atmosphere will result in continuing climate instability, and those costs will have to be paid.
You never have to charge it — but you do have to tank it up, which is pretty much equivalent. And nobody’s forcing anyone to buy an EV either. All the government’s offering is tax incentives for them. You still buy whatever kind of vehicle you want.
This poor man wants to live in the past. Bless his heart. The world will move on without him. His response will probably be joining a white nationalist gang.
Actually, the phone companies did force you to buy that landline phone (the phone set itself). Up until sometime in the 1980s the telephone company provided your telephone set(s) – and charged you rent on them. After that they sold you the set – often they wanted to sell you the same set that you’d been renting for years, for the same cost as a new set. You could also buy a set elsewhere. At the time I remember finding rugged sets made by ITT at Walmart for less than what AT&T wanted to sell me their old rented set, so I bought the ITT and had turned in my old rented set at an AT&T office. I still have (and use) that ITT today.
And no, I am not a luddite. I have trouble hearing on a cellphone, and the landline still works (for now) when my power goes out. Wife has a cellphone for when we need one.
There is an uproar in California due to AT&T’s attempt to get rid of real analog landlines. They DO work when the power is out which happens more and more often due to PG&E outages (an prime example of how terrible a privatized utility company performs – barely any maintenance done on the infrastructure and constantly increasing prices for citizens while making obscene profits). This is a doubly wonderful of example of the so-called “Free Market” NOT doing what people want or need because it isn’t profitable for them. Da*n what the citizens want or need if it can’t be done for profit!

And most importantly, they are still used and vital to many Americans – especially those that have spotty cell service, if any at all, in their home.

Even that “land” line is not what it was, mine is now dependent on an internet connection, when it goes down, so does my phone.
