For a few years, I had to deal with an adult stepdaughter who apparently woke up EVERY MORNING questioning all her life decisions. She was exhausting to be around. It was very hard on her two children, who never knew what was going on. My wife was a psychotherapist, which seems to have meant a “free pass” to the stepdaughter to come over and dump all her problems on Mom, even when Mom was DYING.

All of the friendly fire damage to the roofs of our mouths probably has something to do with it.
