    i did a brief stint as a museum guard. i noted that people would miss the large informatonal placards on displays, but would stop and study the tiniest labels on such things as fire alarm stations & light switches.

    Tabby has it right; Customers don’t read. People see so many signs and advertisements all over the place that they just don’t even look anymore.

    I once read a study that says Americans see more advertisements and signs in one mile of road than most of the rest of the world sees in like 50.

    And when they DO read, they only remember a detailed section of fine print that makes it impossible to determine the item they’re looking for.

    Many years ago the lady wanted the frozen entree with plum sauce. She couldn’t remember that it was Lean Cuisine Mandarin Chicken (with plum sauce). Or the people that know exactly what level of sodium the soup is supposed to have, but not the actual FLAVOR. And…
