There used to be instant soda pills in the 1960s that worked like Alka seltzer and water but it did not catch on but would save on the need for a lot of bottle and can deposits if there were to give it another try.

A little disappointed are we Leo.
The high school kids at our soda fountain would usually order plain Coke. When it wasn’t that , it was cherry, vanilla, or chocolate.
Believe it or not, there are some candy stores that sell bottles of ranch and mustard flavored sodas. I do NOT highly recommend.
