When I was little, I stood on a kiddie footstool that read, “Wash hands and face, and do it well, when you step on this carousel.” And yes, there was a merry-go-round painted on it.
Mixer taps were invented in the 1920s, but few houses had them in the Fifties. These cartoons bring back memories of old houses and old plumbing (not good ones)
In the Army I was in the field 2-3 weeks out of every month. The name of “Field Artillery” should have been a clue. After the first 2-3 days I got used to being dirty & smelly
When we got back in & I got back to my quarters I would take of my uniform & drop it on the floor, & it would crawl to the clothes hamper by itself!

Washing in the morning is even more of a waste of time, since you’ll just get dirty again.

Love the ancient faucets on the sink…2 separate faucets, no mixer.

And a pedestal sink as well!

And somewhere in the night you get just as disheveled.

If you don’t get dirty, maybe you won’t have to do it tomorrow morning…

Generally, people sleep better when they feel clean. So no, it’s not a waste of time.

You’ll be happy you did when you’re older, saving on dental bills

In my parents’ house in Levittown, PA (built in 1954), the bathrooms had mixer taps. Not sure about the pedestals.
