When there is gridlock both parties must want something for compromise to work. On issues that both parties care about there is quite a difference of opinion as to what should be done. I do not see how not having a speaker would matters except superficial appearannce. What did democrats having Pelosi as a speaker in Trump gridlock accomplish? They kept the lights on, impeched Trump Twice, did a bunch of investigations and got an excellent headstart on the 2020 campaign. I cannot recall any agreement or compromise except keeping government open. I cannot seewhat the GOP House can do to help them in 2024.

Maybe the take-home-message is that you can’t really rely on the GOP for anything and we should stop electing them to any position of responsibility.

Left out continuing Repub delusions that Traitor45 lost the 2020 election, it’s still a best seller. As is support for violent insurrections to overthrow the federal government in support of these delusions, conducting totally unfounded investigations into those Traitor45 considers enemies, etc.

Good. Many times do nothing is far better than doing the wrong thing. Biden is proof of that.

To be fair, the GOP was pretty lousy at all of that stuff when they did have a speaker.

The Senate warned lawmakers and Capitol Hill staffers to take precautions amid a rise in crime throughout D.C., following a series of violent attacks against members of Congress and those who work for them.

In a Friday bulletin to Senate chiefs of staff, administrative managers, chief clerks and staff directors, the Senate Sergeant-at-Arms suggested tips to reduce the risk of being carjacked and warned of an increase in carjackings around the nation’s capital. The warning came the day after a Senate staff member was robbed at gunpoint and weeks after a House Democrat was carjacked.
