Would have been easier with a leaf rake.

Curious they din’t pick up the toys first. So at this point, is Darryl going to burn the whole pile, bag all of it for the trash, or pick the toys out of the pile and then dispose of the leaves?

Lack of leaves means they’re all in the neighbors yard. They’ll blow back just before the snow flies.

    Don’t rake your leaves!

Insects lay their eggs in the leaves. The eggs turn into more insects. Birds need insects to eat.

    Don’t starve the birds!

I’m looking at this pile of discarded toys as a commentary about the abundance in which these children are growing: that they can leave a toy long enough on the yard and not want to play with it, and it is raked up…and then what?

I hope they will sort through them and put them in appropriate boxes, so that they can play with them again.

I mean, who leaves out a guitar? Unless it is plastc through and through, it would have warped already, what with the rain and dampness of the fall… I’m also seeing a football, didn’t Hammie need it again to play with… What about those handle bars from a tricycle, undoubtedly, how could he rake that up, shouldn’t he have just picked it up and put in in the garage or a shed?

All in all, all those toys should have been picked up by the kids at the end of the playtime.

Yes, it is a comic, but over all the last panel’s message is rather sad, and not funny at all…

When my brother and I were children, ALL toys, bikes, sporting equipment, etc., had to be out of the yard before dark. Anything left in the yard, visible by morning light, was taken away for a few days. All of our “stuff” lasted longer.

more trees dropping more leaves will just make it harder to find the toys…
