These people are the result of all the people who supported Trump and his MAGAt BS over the last almost 10 years. This Freedom Caucus is an insult to US democracy. They all need to go the way of the Tea Party and the dodo.
Perhaps, Mr. Ramirez, you can explain amid your torrent of criticisms about President Biden why you feel (“think” might be a stretch) the completely dysfunctional Republicans should be taken seriously.
Gaetz merely tried to get the House to appropriate the way it’s SUPPOSED to. [McCarthy COULD have tried that.] The last time they did that, it was 1997. That IS why the debt is 33 TRILLION dollars. If the dollar quits being the World’s currency, will anyone loan us money to keep spending way beyond our means?
So now another speaker has to be elected. Will this be another 15-ring circus?
I had a wonderful vision during ring 14 of the last farce, when the freedum caucus was entering “present” votes. All 20 of them, not stopping to do the math, would vote present. This would lower the threshold to 208, but those votes would be lost to McCarthy. So he would score his usual 200, and Jeffries would score his usual 212. Game over.
GOP’s ‘Gaetz faction’ shredded by WSJ editorial for ‘cutting off their own heads’
The eight House Republicans led by Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) who voted to topple House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) from power on Tuesday effectively “cut off their own heads” and neutered their own party, with no idea where to go from here, wrote the Wall Street Journal editorial board in a blistering op-ed.McCarthy, wrote the board, showed genuine leadership when he “put the country first on Saturday in refusing to let the plotters shut down the government for no good purpose” — but a few days later, faced with a coup from his right flank, “he refused to ask Democrats for a power-sharing deal in return for votes to rescue his Speakership. He put his party above his job, and his reward is that he is the first Speaker ousted in history.”
The irony is, of course, that Gaetz worked with the Democrats to get rid of McCarthy for…working with the Democrats.
And no, the Democrats aren’t upset with Gaetz for getting rid of McCarthy. They’re perfectly happy he’s gone. They’re frustrated that the MAGA nihilists are making governance impossible because they’re too busy staging food fights.
I posted this on another comment but I think it bares repeating.
Really, I can’t see Gaetz’s endgame. Unless he thinks a Red Wave will come in 2024, so what. Even if we pick up 40 or 50 house seats and I hope we do, he will still have ticked off 210 more senior people.

Does that high chair match the one they kept in the white house for Trump; cut from the same cloth…

Sure, be angry at your congressman for embarrassing your party, not for raping a seventeen-year-old girl.

I mean really? Who would want the job of Speaker, especially with the Right Wing lunatics you’d have to cut a deal with?

YOUR GUY, Ramirez. Along with former and never again Speaker McCarthy.
And Trump.
.
None of those three have any concept, nor do they want any, of governing.
Like the majority of Republican elected officials.

Why all the f-ing _DRAMA?
Kevin was incompetent and a liar – they fired him – ’wonder who the next incompetent liar will be?
If this was a sitcom there wouldn’t be a season two,
and that’s worrisome.

Okay, okay. He’s a baby. He’s unethical. It’s a big list. And yet, he STILL got rid of the man 3rd in the line of succession to the presidency.
Trash Gaetz all you want, but he’s not the problem here. It is MUCH deeper than that.

I think the best part about this is seeing all the Democrats crying about him being ousted.
Also I hear several bars got fully stocked from the clearing of Polanski’s private office.
