At least it’s a local call. But for Hurricane Hattie, that’s probably much too close.

From this it is assumed that H.H.’s family and the Thornapple family have two different times for dinner.

I figured that Hattie hadn’t shut up long enough for Wilberforce to get a word in.

One time I was 21 minutes old. She must be the town gossip because she can talk up a storm.

Poor Wilberforce. He hasn’t realized that she hung up.

As to Wilberforce, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

Just his luck that he had nothing better to do.

She’s honing her skills to handle telemarketers.

When I was a kid, that might have put a big burden on the phone budget… even a neighbor might be arbitrarily in a different “local” zone and cost a unit a minute after three minutes.

Poor Brutus, he was hoping the family problem would skip a generation, but it only appears to be getting worse.

A friend did that to me once. I was really mad. He could have told me he’d call me back. But no, he just tells me to hang on a minute and then he’s gone forever. I asked what took so long when he came back and he said he was getting some leftover spaghetti. I was like, you kept me waiting while you went to stuff your face?!?!?!

I thought for a moment Wilberforce was going to say he was waiting for HH to stop talking so he could get in a word.

I see a wedding in their future.
