By “college football” Arlo means The Auburn Tigers. By School Colors Janis means Burnt Orange and Navy Blue.

“War Eagle, fly down the field,

Ever to conquer, never to yield.

    War Eagle, fearless and true.

Fight on you *orange and blue."

    Go! Go! Go!

On to vict’ry, strike up the band.

    Give ’emHell, give ’emHell,

    Stand up and yell, hey!

    War Eagle, win for Auburn,

    Power of Dixieland!"

College football. For those who think the NFL doesn’t have enough corruption.

Being in the UK, although a fan of Pro US Football, I don’t get the joke.

In regard to today’s strip being difficult to suss, ever get the feeling that JJ occasionally follows John Lennon’s example? Once, Lennon supposedly wrote a couple of lyrics that deliberately had no meaning whatsoever, and he then said, “Let’s see them try to figure out this one!”

JJ has a keen sense of humor, and I can see him doing that, especially because of his past comments about the meaning of some strips.

Who cares, it’s just football. I quit watching when the idiot took a knee.

I don’t know what it means but I know it’s about football with no connection to reality and therefore don’t care.

Not a clue so I’ll check the comments. As of this writing I’m leaving the comments without a clue.

On this day in 2007, Arlo and Janis had a Jimmy Buffett comic. I’m scrolling through the archives on go comics and landed on that last night- anyone interested can click the calendar and go back to that date = 9-10-2007 to read it as a tribute.

Don’t know about Janis but I believe Jimmy is a born and bred Mississippi boy so I doubt he’s an Auburn fan.

Could be Auburn; Could also be my alma mater Virginia which has very similar colors. I went to watch Virginia play against Auburn in what I called the “Orange and Blue Bowl”.

for those of us that are old enough, this brings to mind the movie/rock opera “Tommy”, that get up would be useful with the upcoming political season. which i felt it was a metaphor for any way

Baseball is a national pastime so how come they’re not focusing on that? As far as I know, they haven’t had the World Series yet.
