Donald Trump has not been indicted by Merrick Garland.
Neither Biden nor Garland have had any involvement or interference whatsoever in the INDEPENDENT prosecutor’s investigation and charging decisions.
Trump has not been indicted for exercising his “free speech” rights.
Trump has not been indicted as a political act.
All of the witnesses against Trump are his own inner circle; his own closest hand-picked advisors. He is not being accused by Democrats, not even run-of-the-mill Republicans, but by people HE CHOSE as his closest advisors that made up his inner circle. That is how Jack Smith got such detailed inside information.
You can’t claim it is a witch hunt when it is your own flying monkeys that you sent out who are providing the evidence.
Trump has been indicted because Trump committed heinous acts of treachery.
Jack Smith is not a political actor.
No one even knows what party (if any) he is registered with. He has been out of the country in recent years prosecuting war criminals at the Hague. He is highly experienced dealing with extremely egregious abuses of power and will not be intimidated.
Many of us thought Trump should be indicted for incitement to insurrection for his Tweets summoning the mob that he called to the Capitol and for whipping the crowd into a frenzy and then sending them to the Capitol with instructions to stop the certification process. Jack Smith could have indicted Trump for that, BUT HE DIDN’T.
The entire text of the indictment is readily available online, is very readable (45 pages [for #45] of mostly double-spaced text.
No one should criticize it or try to refute it unless they have first actually read it for themselves.
Not likely! I just want Trump and Biden off my ballot. Certainly political parties should have standards that neither Biden or Trump could meet. Virtually nobody wants a rematch but there are adequate numberof zealots for both to win in the primaries.
He would land in that cage. Somehow he will still walk free. Live has taught me that the laws don’t apply to everyone equally. Don’t believe me? Ask any politics about their feelings of Edward Snowden who arguably committed the same, or similar, cringe as Trump.
If you have a strong case, argue the facts. Jack Smith is doing that.
If you have a weak case, argue the law. His lawyer Lauro is trying that, saying that inciting insurrection is simply “free speech”. A very weak case. E. Jean Carroll taught him that there are limits to free speech. And now that Rudy has “conceded” that years of ranting and raving about Georgia polling station workers hiding and destroying thousands of ballots was all lies, those workers who were plagued with death threats may want to teach him the same lesson again.
If you have no case, argue emotionally. Or attack the system. The retrumpliqons are doing that. But it’s strange that they would compare the newest indictment to Nazi Germany. This is very strong projection, even for them. tRump has promised if he’s elected, he’ll weaponize the DOJ and FBI to persecute his opponents, and turn the country into Nazi Germany.
It’s not necessarily true that where there’s smoke there’s fire, but we’ve currently got a Canadian forest fire’s worth of smoke billowing out from 3 different locations, with more on the way.

I hope so, but I think it’s going to be a lot more convoluted than that.

Because his suit is so dark, I at first thought he was standing in front of the escalator. Should’ve put him in a different suit. Tan would work.

We’ve heard for years now about tRump coming down that escalator. Will we hear years from now about tRump going up the elevator at 3P.M.?

I’m getting a weird sense of déjà vu all these years after Watergate at seeing the re-emergence of the phrase “unindicted co-conspirator”.

The tie should be red and very long! So long that it is getting caught in the escalator!

Reactions to the indictment are interesting.

You’ve probably heard the phrase “It couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy.”
I personally have always preferred the variant “It couldn’t have happened to a more deserving guy.”

gold-painted escalator, indeed! did that not tell you something, or the invariably applauding for himself … the list never ends …
