That’s why it’s important to invest in better battery technology, like sodium or aluminum.

Someone is cobfusing climate and local weather again. Another alternative to cobalt is manganese, which has been used in lithium-ion batteries for many years. Manganese-based batteries are less expensive to produce than cobalt-based batteries and are also less toxic to the environment.

So long as you can be woke and delude yourself into “It is good for the planet” you can turn a blind eye into HOW the electric “everything” Biden is pushing is being created.

And the Luddite speaks. Of course, that same Luddite doesn’t care when that same child labor performs tasks he supports. You’re getting stale, Goodwyn.

Now you understand why the Dems are pushing their war against fossil fuels. They long for the good old days.

Leftist logic – Mining US coal for reliable energy = BAD.Mining minerals in the 3rd world for EV batteries that will partially be charged by burning coal and natural gas = GOOD.

I’m pro-choice, buy an EV if it meets your needs. But don’t tell me it’s a “zero emission “ vehicle.

International capitalism meets the labor market.

Goodwin’s take:Child / slave labor in the Diamond mines, acceptable.Child / slave labor in gold mines, oil fields, ruby mining textile manufacturing, shoe production all an acceptable means of sustaining the American way of life.Child labor in the cobalt mines????See what the evil environmentalists are doing!

Can’t believe people will support child labor for EVs that won’t be enough, will ruin water, fill landfills with wind turbine poles. What is wrong with us.

Battery development is moving away from use of cobalt toward other more available and cheaper minerals. The sodium ion, or SALT battery is most promising, and still the solid state battery with its super fast charging rate, try seconds, not minutes, is very close to becoming a real probability.

I wonder if Mr. Goodwynn wonders about most of the clothes he wears. They were not made by Keebler Elves. They were made by women and children working in sweatshops in poor countries that are not troubled by the niceties of safe work rules or living wages. They’re working there because American workers demand better wages and work rules and manufacturers demand higher profits so they took their manufacturing to more “business friendly” countries.

I don’t disagree with his cartoon. It’s true that much of the materials that run our technology is often procured by workers way too young and compensated way too little. However, I’m guessing the EV industry is what is the target of his ire. I wonder if he would follow up his cartoon with an equal examination of the petroleum industry or the agriculture industry or the clothing industry. Lot’s of people suffer so that we can have cheap gas, cheap food and cheap clothes.

If he doesn’t, then he’s just a partisan hypocrite.

Al must have a solution to the poverty issues caused by the Congolese government. He wouldn’t just make a cheap anti-Climate Change gag about it. Would he?

Child labor. That’s a bad thing, Goodwyn?

But, of course, It’s OKAY If A Republican Does It.

Child labor abuses, whether they occur in the Congo or Ohio, need to be stopped.

However, recently in this country, it has been the Republican Legislatures in states like Missouri, Ohio, and Minnesota that have rolled back protections for child workers. Instead of learning from the past, Republicans seem intent on repeating it.

How about thinking of mining EV minerals as something where child labor is ILLEGAL. And boycott any nation that allows it.
