    “Sam, did you shoot him?”

“No! I was with you. I think.”

“Oh. Then did I shoot him?

    “Probably.”

    Good morning™, everyone!

There’s Mr. Riger! Only our ghost writer managed to bring him back to the strip for a second time.

Anyway, they only know that the manager’s been shot, but I assume he’s also dead. Nobody could miss killing him at such close range as being in his office.

    Good morning™, urgent responders !

If that’s not a scowl on Dick’s face it sure is close to being one. “We were on our way to see the man and now THIS !” But they are still going to see A man. With all these delays Sprocket will have gone home for the day so there is a chance she will come through this whole escapade a free woman.

The manager gets transported to the hospital and fast tracked into the operating room. Tracy, Sam and first responders will comb the scene for clues. Mr. Anders is going to be under the knife for several hours so he can’t tell them anything. All depends on whether he survives.

I suppose in a future storyline, Tracy and Sam will roll in an SUV. Those seem to be the choice of police departments. Sedans are few and far between.

There was blood and a single gunshot but just who shot who?

sounds liek someone decided to cut out the middle man and remove the link that could tie the organization together.

(heeheehee) FOOLED THEM ALL! None of them suspect the TRUE situation: That Barney Fife, in town to try to meet Mr. Limpet at a signing at a local pet store) found the battery that that transistor radio Don Rickles sold him had died — so he mistakenly went to Argos for a replacement. Having been playing with his bullet yet AGAIN (what would Freud make of that?), he innocently shot himself in the foot.

They still think it was someone else! (giggles until he chokes on his Bosco-saturated milk)

TRACY (panel two): Gadzooks! I don’t recall that freckle on my wrist! Maybe I’m spending too much time in the sun, out on cases. Better see the doctor!

Excellent . Vintage Dick Tracy brought forward to our day . I like this and I’ve been waiting for this . No ridiculous chickens or meandering side trips down memory lane just regular cop drama and action . Terse no nonsense dialogue and a face of determination on Dick . More ! More I say !

1-RIGER MORTIS: The bamulance has arrived and they don’t appear to be in any hurry to save anybody. OWWW! I sprained my thumb…can’t control the flying thingee…it’s going down…

2-…OH NO! IT’S USING ITS BLADES TO CHOP UP EVERYONE ON SITE! THERE’S BLOOD EVERYWHERE! I’m…feeling…woozy. THUD.

3-DT: Sounds like a good time for lunch, Sam. SAM: When isn’t it? I’m hungry – better light ‘em up!

NEWS AT NOON off panel: A local car repair shop was the site of widespread panic as police tried to shoot down a flying thingee that was using its blades to kill and maim. Several locals were wounded by errant pistol shots as the police missed their target. In an associated incident, Police Tech Rigor Mortis was injured and has been recommended by Chief Patton for the Department’s Purple Heart and Bravery In The Face Of Danger medals.

    One little sticking point—-

The victim and his shooter were supposed to be ALONE in the office, so who heard the shots and called it in?

    Sprocket?Who doesn’t dare come forward??

Sedans are few and far between because manufacturers have all but stopped making them to free up production capacity so they can build more (and more profitable) humongous SUV’s, so it follows that they’re now being pushed as law enforcement vehicles.

cue the dark ambient music with discordant overtones which, although broadly tonal, is inflected with chromatic and polytonal passages representing the archetypal example of a florid, melodramatic style without being interpreted as an overly heavy-handed metaphor within the context of the thematic material

The squad car in which Tracy and Sam are rolling is a black-and-white today; If I remember correctly, when we first saw it some days ago, it was all black. In any case, Tracy (panel 2) is clearly upset at hearing from Riger that “the manager’s been shot”; he just got a tip from Anders minutes ago, and now the mousey little snitch is going stale. He and Sam hasten back to check out the scene of the shooting for themselves….
