When a subject is controversial, it really doesn’t help to make the nomenclature into a linguistic minefield.

you could call Marigold a pony like in the My Little Pony universe.

I think Marigold at one time actually wanted Phoebe to see unicorns as people and would have been insulted if she didn’t think of them as people.

Because the alternative would be animals and unicorns just wouldn’t accept that.

Phoebe could have just explained she meant “no people with us” but that wouldn’t have been funny.
