Conflicts between species and conflicts in one’s own species is fundamental for evolution (and extinction).

And that’s the most likely way peace will finally be achieved, too bad no one will be around to spoil it!

The future people are probably still in their bomb shelters. Even without war, with climate change, earth sheltering might still be a viable adjustment.

The odd thing about having no people around is that no one truly appreciates it until someone shows up.

The most likely vision is of us being around between one and two million years, like our antecedents… but maybe less. Even nuclear armageddon would be likely to leave a viable population in many places around the world, and if we think about it the logistics of us gradually poisoning our world until we are gone are unworkable… dwindling population would reach stasis populated by the hardiest.

Our genome is more fragile than most; our chromosome #2 is a new thing. We apparently share an antecedent with bonobos – “pygmy chimpanzees” – but our chromosome #2 is their chromosomes 12 and 13 (IIRC) joined head to head. That makes us more vulnerable to genetic senescence because we are prototypes in the world of primates. It is likely most of the other Great Apes will be around when we are gone.

Makes me think of that old Bobby Darin song, “We the people don’t want war.” Was that the title? Or just part of the lyrics?

Oh my, didn’t the dems yell loudly that president Trump would get us into war. “Don’t give him the nuclear codes!!!” Instead, it was the most peaceful time in over 20 years.
