We need to start getting these sick people the help they need

^America doesn’t have any more sick people than any other country.

Sick people aren’t the reason for non-stop mass shootings, over-availability of AR-15s is.

Just outlaw the use and sale of weapons such as the AR-15s which are the popular choice of mass shooters. Unfortunately the repubbas (all of them) along with a few democrats such as Henry Cuellar, Jared Golden, Jon Tester and Joe Manchin are against any bans whatsoever for the most part. What is it going to take to get these fools to see reason? Have their kids or grandkids murdered?

Hey Lisa, maybe it’s time for common sense gun reform. The vast majority of us, including responsible gun owners are all for it. The only people against it, likely shouldn’t own any guns.

They like to argue that “gun-free zones” attract shooters. But I haven’t seen any mass shooter, especially those that go into schools, who is not suicidal.

Consequences are usually not the answer. The answer is prevention, as criminals, especially this kind, do not expect to be caught or held accountable.

And do a better job screening those who want to purchase a gun of any kind.

I’m shocked that Lisa seems to care about the victims. She actually thinks they are more important than guns!? She’s becoming a commie? /s

In the meantime, let’s worry more about passing laws restricting the teaching of diversity, actual history, etc. and worry less about the slaughter of school children by firearms … /s

What are the imaginary horribles that cause 2/3 of gun owners to use guns to protect themselves? Are these irrational fears so great that they insist that unconditional unregulated access to military-grade weapons that mutilate and kill humans is necessary for all people to fear safe? Would we not be safer if we spent our tax revenue on crime prevention instead of having only a 2% chance of solving the crimes after they have been committed? https://theconversation.com/police-solve-just-2-of-all-major-crimes-143878 Would we not feel more safe and secure if the political parties chose candidates that everyone trusted/respected to do the right things rather than just their base having faith in their candidates? Why can’t we have a political system that attracts our best and brightest all the time instead of very rarely? Are some of the media outlets being used by enemies of our nation to divide and weaken us — making us fear each other for absurd imaginary reasons?

The big issue is not the type of gun some want banned. It’s those with mental health issues getting access to any type of gun.

The road to a solution is blocked by health privacy rights and getting the necessary info into the background check system.

The problem is that anyone can have a break down at any time. The person may be perfectly fine when he or she buys a gun, but later on become paranoid or have some other mental problems. The problem is the proliferation of military style weapons and the fact that we can’t sue the makers of these weapons when they are used to kill innocent people. We need to at least make the people who buy these lethal weapons take out insurance in case they are used to kill innocent people—we do that for cars, why not for guns?

I have a question for the gun grabbers: Why does congress use our money to give themselves armed protection, but refuse to give our kids the same protection?

The lengths that apologists go to to justify such fire power is amazing. Simple thought experiment: this person walks into the school sans weapons what happens?

Parents were gun control activist advocates yet did NOT inform anyone in power or work to have his/her gun taken away nor have his/per power to buy guns revoked. If THEY did not have this done who can?

We can start by airing the Nashville shooter’s manifesto publicly and in full. If the MSM follows its inclination to suppress this, there will be hell to pay.

The one factor that the conservatives wants us (the ones that have common sense and can think for themselves), President Obama made an Executive Order, not to sell firearms to mentally disturbed people. And we all know who, repealed it. Another factor, conservatives wants to protect the unborn child. Let them go to school after they’re born and look what happens.

Mental illness is an easy target. What is mental illness? Who decides? Personally, I think that anyone who purchases a weapon of war as a means of defending his family might be mentally ill, especially if they have multiples of those weapons and thousands of rounds of ammo. And they’re considered “responsible gun owners” until the very second that they shoot someone or something.

Sen. Thune tells us that his constituents use them to shoot groundhogs, which are indeed destructive to farms. But if you need an AR-15 to shoot groundhogs, you’re a lousy shot and too lazy to get good at it.

And what precisely are you willing to do about it?

Which “well regulated militia was she/it” a member of? Perhaps, before one could own an AR 15 (or similar weapon) one had to join a “well” regulated militia… some of these shootings would not occur.

I’m going to stick my neck out and say that part of the root here is a culture that has people 1. being given to believe, from childhood, that they are the only one in life who matters; 2. believing that their lives should or can be perfect according to their own definition of perfect, if only…; and 3. that if it’s not, it’s OK to take out your dysphoria (fancy word for unhappiness) on any and all around you, even to the point of taking lives. Whatever you see as the genesis of that, guns, arson, machetes, poison, whatever, makes no difference. The gun is unique in that you can watch your victim’s fear as you take out your hate on them from a safe distance. The human being who has no respect for life, no proper view of their place in the world (which is neither in a dismal pit nor on a throne at the top of the world), it is that human being who is killing people. Until people stop buying the bill of goods about what life is “supposed” to be, what is owed them by anyone, this will never stop. I hope this doesn’t earn me a diatribe from anyone, but I’m just tired of this subject being danced around. PEOPLE, be they ignorant, sick or evil, kill people.

We need to stop pretending guns are the solution to every problem. Well… Some of us do.
