The instrement of my life. Starting in middle school, then high school, then university band, on to Jazz, Big Band, and Swing bands of my adultlife. Play both slide and valve, plus that handy plunger off an old-style toilet plunger to create the do-wap, do wah sound in songs like “Pennsylvania 6-500.”
Just got home from a gig in fact, had 500 people in the room while we played 10 Big Band Swing songs plus four modern Jazz tunes. What is stunning to me was the age of the audience—nearly everyone was under 30!
I saw that coming. When you read Olivia’s version of Nancy for a while, you realize that every comic strip element (speech/ thought balloons, sound effects, panels, etc) is an object that the characters can interact with.
