What is it about shower curtains, even the clean ones? Crinkly noise, yea, but cats still are visible, so why?

This is funny because it’s what cats do.

One of our cats, when young, used to sit outside the tub, fascinated and staring at the curtain when we showered, and then paw at the water running down it, which he never got as they were on the inside of the curtain. Good memory of a friend now long-gone. Thanks, Angie, for jogging the memory. :-)
