Depends on what you mean by “survive” I guess. None of them have gotten anyone in my family. Yet. And (I’m knocking on wood here) so far they’ve been distant enough that I can think “sorry for THEM” instead of being sorry for US.

And the fact that I can do this kind of semi-statistics without any effort is downright horrible.

Save that question for after ‘spring break.’ [Can’t ‘like’ this one. It’s bitterly ironic as it is, and too sad to contemplate at 0200 – or any time.]

Gun violence advocates celebrate every mass shooting.

It makes people afraid so they buy more and more guns.

    .

For Republicans, people being gunned down every day is the natural order of things. It’s mostly Those People and hardly anyone inside gated communities.

Ought to hand out citations and medals like they do in the military for campaigns and battles. Give a Purple Heart and some free tuition if they’re wounded in the course of education. Give out posthumous Congressional Medals to those that died in the line of duty, such as students, teachers, and staff who tried to stop the gunman.

How many shootings could have been prevented if we enforced the laws on the books rather than drop felony gun charges and allow criminals to go get more guns?

As usual, the Philosopher troll has spouted an inanity. Gun laws have been loosened by the GOP courts to the point that the second amendment has lost all meaning.

Eventually everyone will be affected by gun deaths and injuries like any war and the law will change. When? Who knows.

No Republican is going to do anything about the leading killer of children in the United States" gun violence until one of their loved ones is a victim.

Republicans are absolutely incapable of empathy. “Thoughts, prayers and sympathy” – words to utter to get a few votes. MAGA.

Yes, right wingers, ALL of the f children’s deaths are not due to mass school shootings. Some are accidents caused by careless parents and some are suicides (but let’s not waste taxpayer money on mental health – that’s woke).

This will continue until family, friends, future generations, and fellow citizens are more important to the fanatics than the NRA and guns. I wonder if feeling the sorrow of someone they love/like/cherish being killed by a gun would change their stark ideology.

In a suburb of Chicago, Riverdale, the Chicago cops were trying to shut down a gun store named “Chuck’s” gun shop because of the amount of guns, [that it sold] that were used in crimes.

    An article from Trace:

“More than a decade ago, Chuck’s Guns was named the nation’s No. 1 source of crime guns. Despite protests and lawsuits, it’s still ringing up sales.”

From the Chicago Sun-Times:“…Chuck’s has acquired national notoriety as possibly the worst of the “bad apple” shops that supply a high percentage of guns recovered at crime scenes. “Criminals will always get guns because Chuck’s sells to the criminals,” is a frequent saying of Father Michael Pfleger, a pugnacious Catholic priest,…”

And from the Greater Palatine Democrat:“Nearly 20% of the crime guns recovered in Chicago between 2009 and 2013 were originally sold by just four local gun dealers. Shockingly, a single gun dealer – Chuck’s Gun Shop and Pistol Range – was the source of nearly one out of every 12 guns traced to crime in Chicago. Chuck’s is part of the roughly 5 percent of gun dealers around the country that supply about 90 percent of the guns linked to crime. From 2009 to 2013, 1,516 guns recovered in crime in Chicago were traced back to Chuck’s. Nationwide, 2,370 guns recovered in crime were traced back to Chuck’s from 1996 to 2000, the most of any gun dealer in the country. In contrast, more than 85 percent of gun dealers sell no guns used in crime.”

And :"The truly memorable speakers, [at the protest in front of Chuck’s] however, were dozens of mothers, fathers, and children of people killed by gun violence. Their quiet, sincere testimonials brought our chants of “Purpose over Pain” as they turned their grief into action".

And to the conservative whiners; the article is based on actual research and actual fact and not your delusions about it being a Democratic plot.

I have survived all of them. And I intend to keep it that way. I have also avoided being shot by the police (which make up 20% of homicides in the US). Thank God I can live in Europe.
