What many on the left don’t want you to think about is that the current inflation rate is on top of all the others since Biden took over. Sure the number is down from previous highs, but most folks can’t even handle the previous increases.
Diesel was $2.50 a gallon 2 years ago, now its over $4.50 a gallon. The economy runs on diesel, trucks, trains that transport goods, farm equipment, emergency vehicles, city services. When those costs go up, EVERYTHING costs more. That coupled with overspending by BOTH parties makes everything cost more as your dollar buys less.
Actually we all should be thankful for that but I suppose the Republicans could’ve cooled inflation within one month of its appearance. Of course we would all be in 1930 style soup lines if they did but the uber rich would still be ok and that’s good because they live only to create jobs for the rest of us – right?
The annualized inflation rate over the last six months is 2.8%. That’s not ideal, but coupled with exceotionally low unemployment is solidly positive economic news
And yet liberals (like Robert Reich) say inflation is good. . . blame the corporations? Gosh. I wonder why they didn’t jack up prices under Trump. Hmmm. . . . .
It got to 71 degrees today, February in VA, and we’re heading into an El Nino, Climate Chaos is gonna cost us trillions! (notice the dead frog?) The next three years should be so awful that even Qublicans won’t be able to deny the existential threat. Inflation? Hang on.
I just thought I’d check in to see what Lisa got wrong today. She did not disappoint. Inflation is far beyond the control of any national government- but the Democrats do far better than the Republican menagerie – in every realm of endeavor.
2022 Inflation – USA – 8.0%, Can – 6.8%, France – 5.2% UK & Germany – 7.9% Turk – 72.3%, Hungary – 14.6%, Russia – 13.75% Notice the difference between the democracies and the despots (that Trump fervently admires) and be thankful that the Jan. 06/21 coup failed.
An increase in the supply of money is the root of inflation, though this can play out through different mechanisms in the economy. A country’s money supply can be increased by the monetary authorities by:
● Printing and giving away more money to citizens
● Legally devaluing (reducing the value of) the legal tender currency
● Loaning new money into existence as reserve account credits through the banking system by purchasing government bonds from banks on the secondary market (the most common method)
In all of these cases, the money ends up losing its purchasing power.
Don’t forget to thank CHYNA Biden for our rising energy cost problems.
Joek “must show Americans that he will stand up to an increasingly aggressive Xi and safeguard our security”, but he can’t, he is, hmm what’s that word dims love to use, oh yes, existentially compromised by CHYNA.
Biden administration’s eager reentry into the Paris climate accord and enthusiasm for renewable energy can be read as another gift to Beijing. Biden pledged to cut U.S. emissions 50 percent to 52 percent by 2030, a drastic promise that could leave Americans with less reliable and less affordable energy, while China basically promised nothing, and continues to build new coal-fired power plants.
Meanwhile, Chinese companies provide more than 80 percent of the components for the solar and wind industries worldwide. Despite efforts to boost U.S. self-sufficiency in renewables, trying to reach that emissions target will be a boon to China for the foreseeable future.
China’s provocations are endless, including providing military materiel to Russia in support of its war in Ukraine, repeated harassment of U.S. fighter planes and interference with commercial activity in the South China Sea. And then there is COVID-19.
China is manifestly not our friend, and Biden must show Americans that he will stand up to an increasingly aggressive Xi and safeguard our security. – The Hill

Not to worry, Lisa. House Republicans have already kicked Omar off the committee.
And next, they are going to investigate the HECK out of that laptop.
And maybe close down the government, in order to save money. It only cost $27 billion last time they did it.

If we were back in 1973 under Nixonomics Phase III, would we see such a cartoon? Then the president was directly involved so he could win reelection.

Republicans ran on inflation, high gas prices and crime and they have done NOTHING about them.
Instead they got a Commission to complain about their Twitter accounts.
Republicans are the party of we will lie about everything but continue to carry out our anti democracy plans.
