Nor cats, nor friends who text several times a day nor… My best, most productive ‘working at home’ time is when everyone is asleep. There are no distractions and only soft music.

Either send the kids to daycare, or be glad you don’t have to pay for daycare while gone to an office.

More power to you if it works for you, but I find working at home too much like sleeping at work.

Let me get this straight. First you complain that you want to work rather than stay at home; then you complain until bosses give you time off (paid!) for maternity leave. . Then you scream and yell about not enough day care possibilities. Then it is the BOSS’S fault when he asks you to work at home (as it is cheaper since all his costs to help YOU have babies is costing him more and more… so he tries to get rid of the need for expensive office space. HE didn’t force you to have four kids – or any kids for that matter! Why do you think that YOU should “have it all” while everyone else is paying for your decisions? Sheesh!

I like the office because there are labs and assembly lines to work at, I walk up & down stairs and am physically active several times a day. I also like my coworkers. But I hate the commute. I currently have one telecommute day per week (more if the weather is bad). My employer is very flexible.

The thing I found when the work at home started a couple years ago was how the traffic on all streets and especially at malls and grocery stores increased during what should be slow times, or where are all these cars and people coming from when I normally shop at 10am (retired)?

It’s only a cartoon, but in any universe, you need to work out the details if you’re going to work from home (whether it’s your idea or not).My wife and I have been working from home for nearly three years. It’s easier on us because we’re empty nesters. I teach a class over Zoom, and occasionally, my students’ kids or pets photo bomb our sessions. I don’t mind; it makes for a pleasant diversion. But they do have to arrange their lives so they’re able to focus on the class.
