Oh good! Chesney is going to be freed! And I didn’t even have to give them my can of tuna! I hope they let the cats keep Oliver’s little red ball. Otherwise, I was cleaning yesterday and I found a package of 6 ping pong balls that I didn’t even know I had. I opened the package and let my cats play with a few of them, but I’d be happy to let Oliver have the 2 that are still in the package. My cats played with the others and I don’t know if I can even find them again.

Today is:

NATIONAL CHOCOLATE CAKE DAY. I don’t have any chocolate cake, but I was planning on baking chocolate drop cookies today. That’s pretty close. Chocolate drop cookies are a soft, cake-like cookie with chocolate frosting. I love them but seldom bake them. I should make them more often. They are sooooo gooood!

NATIONAL FUN AT WORK DAY. I’ll have even more fun today NOT being at work! It’s been a great month as I had so much paid time off that I’ve used 3 paid days off every week this month so I’m working only on Saturdays and Sundays. And in fact, I have tomorrow off too! But starting next week, I’ll be back to working 5 days a week. I’ve mostly spent my free time loafing, but I try to spend time each day doing house cleaning. I even managed one day to organize kitchen cupboards. I took out all of my plastic storage containers and matched them with their lids. Any lids without containers or containers without lids went in the recycling bin. Now when I open the cupboard door, I don’t have everything falling on top of me like it was doing before. Now I’m cleaning out the spare bedroom which has become more of a storage room. And I really ought to clean the refrigerator too. But I’m still having fun!

If they’ll take “anything,” find something else (check the trash can) to give them and let sweet Oliver keep his string and red ball.

Shoot, now we have to take up a collection to get Oliver’s ball back.

Yippee! My Annie was just now playing her little flirting game with me, rubbing on the doorframe of my bedroom while I was getting dressed. She keeps looking up at me as she rubs on the door, rolls on the floor and playfully swats at other cats. She has such a sweet look on her face, I just have to try to pet her. Well, just now, she was standing there halfway in and halfway out of the room, her backside facing me. I reached down and I got 3 FULL STROKES down her back before she realized that I was actually petting her! Then she looked up and ran a few steps away. She kept teasing me after that, doing more of the same thing. She would not let me touch her again, but she sure lets me get close. But I feel like I won the lottery because I got those 3 full strokes down her back.

In case anyone is new here, this is BIG NEWS because Annie was a feral (or semi-feral because I believe she once belonged to someone who dumped her on me. I had to trap her and her 3 kittens last July. Annie and her daughter, Panther, won’t let me touch them. The other 2 kittens, Pebbles and Cindy changed from fearful and untrusting to sweet and loving. I’m trying to get Annie and Panther to be like that, too).

And thus, Chesney is free. I knew the police couldn’t be able stand him for long! Hope Oliver gets his red ball back, though. On another note, saw eight chickadees while out walking today.
