The Who’s deaf-blind Tommy has never met Wallace McClellan who happens to play an even meaner pinball.

One would think the citizens of their little town would be very familiar with the McClellan family by now.

Even Seagull looks embarrassed.

Actually, for Wallace, this is normal. For large-sigma values of “normal.”

I played pinball a lot back in the day, but “Send Zone”..?

I’m surprised there are no spit takes. Nothing like a hamburger in flight to cap off the day.

I just love this whole vibe. I want to duck out of the cold into a warm and friendly and familiar little fish and chips place on a pier to play pinball with my friends without another care in the world! Can I go back and start over and have Wallace’s life??

This is why Spud accompanies Wallace to his pinball sprees…so he can explain Wallace’s behavior to others not already familiar with it.

I remember, as a child, visiting a dilapidated convenience store. There was one pin-ball machine inside and a young man was standing inside, fixated on his game. Even then, I thought: What is so enticing as to enthrall a person to spend a nice day inside playing an electronic game?

I would expect nothing less….

Has the pinball at Mulroy’s always been “Cosmic Carp”? It does seem appropriate for a quay side pub.
