Proposed Trump criminal referral goes ‘to the heart’ of his involvement in J6: Legal expert

On Friday’s edition of CNN’s “OutFront,” NYU Law professor and former special counsel at Department of Defense Ryan Goodman explained the significance of the criminal referral the House January 6 Select Committee is planning to vote on against former President Donald Trump.

After months of hearings and gathering evidence, the committee will vote on two charges: obstruction of an official proceeding, and conspiracy to defraud the United States.

It may seem like Trump and De Santis are the only two items on the menu, but it’s still early. There’s plenty of time for the clown car to fill up. (Both clown cars, to be fair; I’m not convinced Biden will run for another term, but even if he does the nomination won’t be unopposed.)

On the GOP side, it seems like a 50/50 split between “NOBODY but Trump!” and “ANYBODY but Trump!” and De Santis (Trump by another name) is the current favorite, but again it’s still early.

Rep. Ronny Jackson, R-Texas, falsely accused Rep. Katie Porter, D-Calif., of saying that “pedophilia isn’t a crime” when Porter actually said that LGBTQ people have been wrongly branded on social media as “groomers” and “pedophiles.”

“The ‘groomer’ narrative is an age-old lie to position LGBTQ+ people as a threat to kids,” Porter said. “And what it does is deny them access to public spaces, it stokes fear, and can even stoke violence.”

She went on to ask why Twitter allows posts calling LGBTQ+ people “groomers” according to its own hateful content policy to which Robinson responded that while Twitter and Facebook have community guidelines in place, the platforms also need to hold users accountable to those guidelines.

The Human Rights Campaign’s report revealed that anti-LGBTQ+ content was largely driven by a small group of extremist politicians and their allies.

Anti-semitic assault of senior man ends with attacker shouting ‘Kanye 2024’

An attack on a senior citizen in Central Park appeared to be motivated by antisemitism as the attacker screamed “Kanye 2024,” a reference to the rapper now known as “Ye,” who has come out as a Nazi. The Washington Post reported that the older man was walking through the park at about 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday when someone hit him from behind. The older man fell to the ground, chipped a tooth and broke his hand, law enforcement said in a statement. The attacker used “numerous” antisemitic phrases while attacking him before fleeing on a bike with a sign reading “Hungry Disabled.”
