The Trump endorsement, in the words of Mitt R-money in the wake of the crushing defeat of Herschel Walker, is “the kiss of death” for Republican candidates in general elections. It gives them a big leg up in the primary, but then they lose in the general unless it is a deep, deep red state.
Every new candidate for senate, governor or secretary of state that was endorsed by Trump in a state that could plausibly go either red or blue lost, except for J.D. Vance in his Ohio senate race. In contrast, Republicans who ran away from Trump or who Trump had opposed in primaries, won in significant numbers.
TRUMP IS A LOSER, and so are the candidates he supports.
(Apparently, the day before a full moon turned out not to be the most auspicious day for a wannabe werewolf to try to win an election.)
This may finally spell the end of people who know better — who hate Trump and what he has done to their party — but keep their lips planted firmly on his rear end for fear of his base. They can overlook the ADMITTED sexual assault (bragging about it on tape), the flagrant, frequent, serial cheating on all three of his wives, the credible allegations of rape, the financial crimes, the tax cheating, Trump “University” and Trump charities frauds, stealing from charities, even the treasonous stealing of classified documents.
But losing winnable senate (or governor or secretary of state) races? THAT is unforgivable for a party that has lost even the pretense of any semblance of principle and exists ONLY for the purpose of winning elections and consolidating dictatorial, tyrannical power over private citizens’ personal lives.
I am one of those who refuse to give Trump any credit for the downfall of the Republican Party and the bottom feeders who represent them. Trump is a broken tool for republicans. Nothing more.
The Repubs will not out and out censor nor disallow Trump from running as a representative of their party. To do so would result in the party splintering and becoming a historical footnote.
Trump isn’t even the disease, he’s just a symptom. The disease is the capitalist system that produces a permanent underclass while assuring them that they are in a country that gives everyone equal opportunity. The media lets us know on a regular basis that there are people who were born in poverty but overcame the odds and are rich. That requires either talent, superior intelligence, or luck, frequently a combination of the three. And, the average person doesn’t have that advantage, or the advantage of being born on third base. So, the people who are still giving it their all and keep striking out have the general idea that the game is rigged against them, and no clear idea as to exactly why or how that happened. They get mad about it, don’t know who to blame, and Trump told them that it wasn’t their fault (probably the only true thing he ever said) and he wanted to fix it ( probably the biggest lie).
‘Downright nasty’ MAGA supporters are turning on each other as Trump flails: conservative
According to conservative Matt Lewis, Donald Trump’s collapse among Republicans who would now like him to go away and no longer be the face of the party, has set off a civil war among some of his most ardent followers who are how jockeying to take over the MAGA movement. With Trump’s plummeting to earth after his 2020 election loss and the failure of the majority of his hand-picked candidates failing to win in the 2022 midterms elections, Lewis wrote that his "minions’ have the “knives out” for each other as things fall apart.
McConnell and his ilk in the Republican party supported Trump because they thought they would be able to manipulate him to support their evil and self-serving legislation, and if the results were unpopular or led to obvious failures they could then blame Trump. They overestimated their ability to control Trump and underestimated what a loose cannon he was/is.
And now a brief word from objective reality: If inflation were a couple points lower (maybe even one point lower), the Democrats would have kept the HOUSE. Just saying.

I see Trump’s game plan now.He reduces the Republican Party to a rump that only represents deep red states.
All of which are represented by candidates which are beholden to him.
He then controls enough states, congressmen and senators to filibuster any legislation at all by whomever wins government.
Nothing can happen without his say so, and his price will be steep.
Trump can leach off the US taxpayer forever.

I don’t believe Santa is concerned about competition. The comparison to Trump though…

Let’s not ignore the fact there are a lot of MAGA-minions out there that still hang on Trump’s every word. That’s the true danger.

I truly hope Trump keeps campaigning. At least long enough to destroy every Republican running against him, so he can deliver for Democrats in 2024.

Well.. he was a democrat originally. Clever man that he is though, he switched horses when he realized republicans are easier to dupe.
