Left to myself I will eat mostly things that can be eaten right out of the box or package, preferably one handed because I’m probably reading while I eat
In the kitchen I only use the toaster and microwave
My wife makes sure I eat enough real food, still haven’t figured out how she does it without nagging
Pancakes are simple, turn on the griddle, mix 1 cup of flour in a bowl with 1 teaspoon of baking powder ad 1 egg 1 cup milk 1/4 cup oil mix and ladle onto the now hot griddle.
As a kid, MY ratings would have been based on how much trouble different foods were to EAT. The more quickly I could get done eating and back out to play, the better. BEST: Hamburger helper, macaroni, Rice-a-roni (or home-made versions thereof) – easy to shovel down with a fork and be done. WORST: Roast chicken (picking at a hundred bones for an hour because you had to eat every itty-bitty piece of meat to be considered “done.”)
One day Toby will be cooking a delicious meal for his family, enjoying the skill, the smells and anticipation of their enjoyment, when he’ll look back on this day and laugh heartily!

Still worth the trouble. Pancakes. Yum!
