To say that the Secret Service has a large orange stain on them would be an understatement. I wonder how many people will lose their careers trying to protect the world’s biggest narcissist. He does tend to leave the broken lives and careers of many of his supporters wherever he goes.
The Secret Service works for you, as do presidents, generals, judges, the congress, etc. Everything that they do on the job belongs to us all – full stop.
Another government agency that’s off the rails. Add in the FDA, the EPA, Homeland Security is dubious, the FAA, the FCC, Trump was right about one thing, Washington is a swamp.
Benson, of all the toons you might have drawn…timely, apt, ironic, humorous or even…with some relevant point…why did you do this? It’s just bad, tacky and pointless.
Apparently you weren’t around at the time, Mr. Benson. I was just in junior high, but the pain lingered even for me for a long time. And the image you chose is one of the worst. Tasteless and, worse from the point of a “cartoonist”, REALLY not funny.
My grandmother, aunt, uncle and cousin lived in Bethesda, my aunt worked the switchboard at Bethesda Naval Hospital. We were there visiting for Thanksgiving, I was 10 years old. We were driving to Bethesda from our home in PA when my dad passed a military car going super slow, so he passed them. After he passed, they sped up and passed us. Made my dad mad! :-D It wasn’t until we got to my Aunt’s that we found out what happened. Since she worked at the hospital, we were able to get on the base in the parking lot, and from a distance, we saw them unloading the casket. I also saw Jackie in her pink suit.
Steve, this rendering shocked me at first; however, the longer I looked at it, realized the comparison could not be more stark between todays SS and that of 50 years ago.
i commented that i believed this was ‘too soon’ here is what steve benson replied….. and my reply to him…. ……………………………………………………………………………………

Okay, I’m going to jump in here and probably get beaten up for it but here goes…When and where is the accountability for the Secret Service. I have a nagging feeling that the Secret Service was in fact complicit in the events leading up to the attempted insurrection on January 6th. How else do you explain that all their phone records disappeared when things began unraveling for the former president and his minions, including the SS. Trump, Homeland Security and the Security Service appear to have all played a part in what took place. The bad actors need to be identified, removed from federal service and barred from all future jobs in any branch of the government, especially law enforcement. And while you’re at it ask Mike Pence why he refused to get in the car with the Secret Service on January 6th. So, just how safe is our current President of the United States?
Delete the messages from your phone NOW! Wipe up the ketchup when you’ve finished.
Sheesh.
I know this situation isn’t covered in the SS training manual, but for cryin’ out loud, after 4 years I’d think by now you’d have learned to expect the totally unexpected better than this.
The picture is of JFK’s assassination. Jackie’s outfit & pillbox hat are the give-away. Of course, no such thing as text messages then, so I’m not sure what he’s trying to say.
Dallas Morning News said she was going for help here. I always thought she was trying to get out of the line of fire, which seems sensible. New projected plans for Dealy Plaza have a marker where he was shot, and the street closed to traffic so pedestrians can stand at the spot and reflect.
Anyone here remember the assassination of John F. Kennedy? Anyone? Who do you think the woman with the pink dress and hat are? It ain’t Empty Greene. I think that’s the event to which the cartoonist is alluding.

The failures of the Secret Service in the JFK assassination were from human errors; politics did seemingly play a part.

Trump lodged his Secret Service detail at his properties for over $1,000 a night at taxpayers expense. Can you say bought and paid for.
